I dont know why this datuk alan tong want to compare Aust vs Malaysia and using toyota vios as indicator? Australia should use Holden, and Malaysia should use proton. The comparison only shows Australia house is more costly than malaysia, that's all. One home in australia can buy 30-40+ proton in malaysia.
Or the other way, one home in malaysia can buy a few holden in australia. It all show both car and house is exp in australia.

sosfinance: Instead of 100% importing car, our ringgit will circulating in our country because of national car project. Extra money will be earned by the gov from those who willing to pay higher for import cars. Win for the gov, win for the country, lose for the individual.

Hopefully everyone has a more realistic view on las vegas, yes, it is in US, world most advance and biggest developed economy. But that do not make everything in it big, sands, wynn, mgm all famous las vegas operators that highly relying on macau market. Las vegas for them is like compete in macau (no. of casinos) with singapore gaming industry size.

Paperplane2: gaming sector is not high tech oriented, where the most techno you go, the more money you earn. So maybe you can elaborate more on how LV pioneer in gaming industry...maybe they can mental control the slot machine? From my memory, by 2014 macau total gaming revenue is 30-40 B usd while las vegas is 6-8 B usd. So when you saw the news saying macau tourist is shrinking fast, it really means nothing if you do not know how vastly different the market size between LV and macau to begin with. Ok let say macau so bad drop 40%, las vegas still need to grow 200% in 2015 to catch up macau. Understand?

Paperplane2: genting can enter into macau if macau gov want to expand their license tendering. But no movement now it seems. If only macau gangster can be in macau, then why stanley ho face competition from those Las vegas operators, mgm sands even aus crown is in macau, no? Malaysia is the only safe monopoly, others cant get in bcoz of religion issue. Singapore by this decade end, singapore gov will decide whether to expand another casino...but now seem like they do no intention to do so. So your point claiming diff operator got diff territory is incorrect, it is after all up to a country ruling. In this world, the only place easiest to get gaming license is las vegas.

Lazy to find it out...can any guru here tell me, % of genting berhad profit come from genm, gen hk, gen s, gen plantation? Thx in advance

Genting should step in macau, not because it is biggest in the world (and i dunno why you think lv is the most advanced market). But because they need to set up junket in macau to get back their money in singapore. Now mainlander owe debt in singapore casino have no effective way to get it back. And mass competition, the competition in LV is more fierce than macau, LV is like when your market is as big as singapore, yet casino as many as macau, go figure all your statement again.

Resort world bayshore schedule to open in 2018... Last time only has resort world manila which monopoly the market for a while but now facing competition from another 3 newly built casino. And philipine tourism doesnt seem good coz china tourist do not want to go there as there is terrotorial disoute with china. Japan need to wait until next parliament session next year, Jeju local korean cannot enter...luckily it is close to beijing. So hoping genting to do good in future really need a lot of luck.

Paperplane2: the way you telling us about genting berhad remind me of my parent. They get their info from newspaper, and when i ask more detail from them...they say just need to believe, why ask so much...like i want to make them looks clumsy. Brisbane IR i have much query....cause it seem like it is sydney Echo group collaborate with HK tycoon. The only involvement is Lim Kok Thay investment in echo group via genting hongkong. How much genting berhad own genting hk? 17.8%. How much is gen hk invest in echo? 23% and due to law, they cannot exceed 23%. So if in future brisbane IR earn 1 dollar, genting berhad can get 4 cents of its profit. How wonderful it is.

Paperlane2: Haha...las vegas is not genting one man show. Las vegas only 3 casino ebitda reach 300M USD. Best case scenario would be as profitable as genm...with lots of competition surrounding. Why keep hyping genting berhad? Bet too much on it liao desperate to pump it up?

What come up need to go back, ever since FED stimulate their economy, they exported a lot of inflation oversea. Asset price inflation is prominent globally, look at property price in australia, malaysia, taiwan, canada, singapore, philipimes, vietnam UK etc over the past year, all share a lot of similarity. Europe bcoz of crisis, their bubble ady pop eg ireland, spain etc. So next year is the interesting year to watch, as US on their path to normalise, systemic financial risk on those developing nations may increase and no matter how strong malaysia financial position is ( malaysia strong? Puiiii.), once one nation bubble burst, it will be contagious to others countries, and keep in mind, unlike 1997 only asia region, this time is global crisis, somewhere some place on the earth sure got problems. Good things is that US has their own impending bubble too, their shale bubble, so really see who burst first, and next year will be very volatile. Even China cant do much, already manufacturing PMI drop consecutiively, they are trying to resolve their economy transformation issues as that might affect them whether they will be trapped in middle income trap. So next year, beware.

@Xxxvalue Brunei dollar is bilateral interchangable with S$, since singapore kick out from federation, they signed and agree for brunei to do so. Riyal is peg to usd, same like hk$, which is why you see rmb devalue doesnt affect HKD. Crude price is the war between OPEC to get rid off US shale, al-Naimi the saudi minister of oil has a much bigger impact on oil price than what usd value, punish russia, US supply threat etc. Watch out for next OPEC meeting as it affect price much more than any other factors.

Merely buying a company that is expanding might not be a good investment. The key is whether or not the share price already factors in the company expansion plan. A company that is expanding, and everyone knew the company is expanding, the share price normally will not be cheap. Eg airasia, they are expanding their business regionally, people knew it, shares price already bloated make it a bad investment choice. Plus their strategy is budget airlines, even they become bigger, they will want to sacrifice their profit in exchange for greater competitiveness no matter how big they grow. So even they are expanding, their profit growth might not be as strong as revenue growth.

@James a valuable company and value for money is two diff things. Besides understanding companies fundamental valuation, you need to take into account whether the soon opening theme park news already factor into the share price. All i know is, what you know, others already knew (theme park), which explain GENM doesnt fall as strong as GEN, buying a share that is rising always has a higher risk, you cant simply see a share rise or fall to determine 'value for money'. Is a fun psychology game, go figure.

My point is, a whether a company worthwhile to invest has noting to do with whether a company is valuable or whether a company is growing.

Genting berhad is more valuable, genting berhad held GENM shares, also other Genting asset worldwide including genting singapore. If you look at the asset, Genting berhad has more potential because of its investment that may result in anomaly upside gain one day. However, a valuable company not necessary is a good share investment, a company that is suitable for share investment not necessary is a valuable company.

Although China gov had rein further fall, damages had done. It is a mega wealth transfer from the poor to the rich coated by legit share trading that affected few hundred millions people. Genting berhad will certainly be impacted more profoundly that what we will see now, impact from edible oil to tourist coming to malaysia and singapore to gamble, next two quarter report certainly will show how badly the impact will kick in.
