Market value now of Matrix Concept is RM1.4 bil while MKH is RM1.2 bil. Is this justified if one's investment horizon is 1 to 3 years? Mathematically, the difference of RM200 mil is about 50 sen per share potential upside to MKH.

Justified to invest more in Indonesia!

Three Measures
Jokowi has said he wants to transform Indonesia, a string of more than 17,000 islands that would stretch almost from New York to London, into a maritime power and has in the past laid out a plan to develop the fishing industry, improve port infrastructure and bolster sea defenses.
“In the year of development acceleration, the government is focusing on three breakthrough measures to eradicate poverty, unemployment and social inequality," he said in his speech. "Those three measures are: One, expediting infrastructure development. Second, preparing productive capacity and human resources. Three, deregulation and de-bureaucratization.”

0228 GMT [Dow Jones] Asian crude palm oil is likely to remain supported after the U.S. soybean market rallied strongly Monday on the Chicago Board of Trade. Commonwealth Bank of Australia says in a note that the soybean market has shrugged off forecasts for record U.S. soybean product in 2016 and "appears focused on the prospect of record demand." Soybean oil is a substitute for palm oil so the two commodities often trade in parallel. The Bursa Malaysia benchmark three-month palm oil contract ended up MYR100/ton at MYR2625/ton Monday. The National Economics and Industry Committee, or KEIN, advising the president on the economy will present an industrial roadmap to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo in October, in an effort to spur growth in priority industries.

“The focus of the roadmap considers the country’s human and natural resources. We can’t be Japan with its automotive industry, but the resources actually allow us to lead in agriculture, maritime, even creative industry,” KEIN chairman Sutrisno Bachir in Bogor, West Java on Saturday afternoon (13/08).

Last year, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that artificial trans fats would no longer be found in snack foods, baked goods and frozen vegetables starting in 2018. With the ban, palm oil has been named the primary replacement.

“Our palm oil exports to the US have increased. This is a pleasant surprise because the US is known to prefer soybean over palm oil,” David said over the phone on Friday.

This was what announced in 2008 when MKH acquired the land.

"The Land covers an area of approximately 15,942.60 hectares. The Land is generally flat with very slight undulation and the soil and climate conditions are suited for oil palm cultivation. The Land has 2 small rivers passing through and is ideal as a source of water for the future oil processing mill. In addition, the main river known as Sungai Mahakam provides an ideal transportation mode to ship out the crude palm oil. Currently, the Land comprises mainly of ‘belukar’ and shrubs and progressive clearing of the Land for the planting of oil palm trees is in progress. Currently, approximately 80 hectares of oil palm nursery has been established.

PT Khaleda has also engaged a professional plantation managing firm to assist in the plantation development of the Land in addition to its own management team comprising of personnels with many years of experience in the oil palm plantation sector in Indonesia. The MKHB Group currently owns and manages several hundred acres of oil palm plantation in Peninsular Malaysia with its first venture in year 1995. In addition, the Executive Chairman of MKHB has more than 18 years of experience in managing oil palm plantation."

0214 GMT [Dow Jones] The rally in crude palm oil prices due to weather extremities may resurface into the year end, says OCBC in a note. "Wetter-than-usual weathers in Asia may be seen in 4Q16 which would once again prohibit production." OCBC keeps its year-end CPO outlook at MYR2,800 per ton as weather extremities and lower production should take form into the latter part of this year. Still, downside risk to its forecast exists, especially if poor demand persists. Benchmark palm-oil futures for October delivery on the Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Exchange ended 28 ringgit higher at MYR2,306 per ton on Tuesday. (lucy.craymer@wsj.com; Twitter: @lucy_craymer)
