As a matter of fact, petrol companies can supply clean energy independently to EV charging facilities without depending on tenaga power transmission lines. In fact, many petrol companies are already doing this. For example, Shell has partnered with solar company Sunseap to install solar panels at Shell petrol stations in Singapore. Another alternative is purchase renewable energy credits (RECs). Many other alternatives will emerge when the demand increases as to avoid the monopoly and to create a free competitive market......

Petroleum companies have started investing heavily in clean energy which is Solar and Hydrogen power to cater for their electric charging facilities in their petrol stations...

@Hemsley, nor will petroleum companies accept the loss of petrol supply, a new win win policy will definitely emerge if and only if demand/usage of EV increases..... so definitely Tenaga can't monopoly the game as the Fortune 500 petroleum companies (Petronas, Shell etc...) will venture into automotive electicity supply and take the lead as usual :)

1. Can we afford EV cars?
2. Can we afford to change EV cars every 5 years? while the battery life span is around 5 years and its very expensive
3. High environment temperature that will drain rechargeable batteries even sooner
4. Opportunity cost for our economy if fossil fuel is substituted with rechargeable batteries. (we are petroleum producing country)
5. Can we afford higher battery charging cost compared to lower petrol cost that is subsidized?
