KUALA LUMPUR (June 16): Government-owned Pengurusan Aset Air Bhd (PAAB) is confident it would conclude negotiations with Selangor policy makers on the state’s water industry restructuring by the end of this month.

PAAB chief executive officer Datuk Faizal Abdul Rahman said at a press conference here today that he believed the negotiation process would be concluded before Hari Raya Aidilfitri this July. The press conference was in conjunction with the memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between PAAB and PMB Tijari Bhd.

“I don’t really know, it’s still a long negotiation process. Selangor Menteri Besar (Azmin Ali) said he wants to settle the negotiations before Ramadan, but seeing that it is only two days away, I’m not quite sure we can reach that deadline.

“But I am confident we will settle our negotiations with the Selangor state by the end of this month, before Hari Raya,” said Faizal.

Last Thursday (June 11), it was reported that Azmin met Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili to resolve the state’s on-going water woes.

The water restructuring had faced obstacles due to disagreements between the Federal and Selangor governments.
