When one keeeps focusing on the negatives, then one can't help gradually becoming pessimistic.

So, how to neutralise that?

Simple, just focus on the positives, and shut out the negatives from one's mind. Easier said than done, but with a bit of serious, sustained effort, it is pretty doable.
