(Kuala Lumpur News on the 16th) Sources revealed that Sapura Energy (SAPNRG, 5218, main board energy stock) has made the latest progress in divesting its 50% stake in its associate company Sapura OMV Upstream, and is expected to start from Abu Dhabi state fund Mubadala and French energy company Total Energies selected the buyers.

The Edge Financial Weekly quoted sources as saying that although there were indeed other buyers interested in buying earlier, the competition has now been narrowed to two companies.

It is understood that although the bids of both parties are similar, Total Energeis's bid is expected to be slightly higher than Mubadala's.

Another source said that the price is only one of the factors considered, and said that the two companies are still on the same starting line.

When asked about the sale of equity, Sapura Energy stated that there are indeed many parties interested in Sapura OMV Upstream Company, and the company is currently undergoing a sale process.

"However, to maintain confidentiality and integrity, we are unable to comment further."

Total Energies and Mubadala did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
