Velesto Energy Berhad (VEB) has announced that Velesto Drilling Sdn Bhd (VED), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Velesto Malaysian Ventures Sdn Bhd, which in turn is a wholly-owned subsidiary of VEB, has received a Letter of Award from Sarawak Shell Berhad/Sabah Shell Petroleum Co. Ltd. (SSB/SSPC) for a contract for the provision of jack-up drilling rig services.
The contract is for VEB’s jack-up rig NAGA 4 to drill seven firm wells, with an estimated contract value of US$17.68 million. The expected commencement date is between 15 August 2021 to 15 October 2021.

NAGA 4 is an independent-leg cantilever jack-up drilling rig that has a drilling depth capability of 30 000 ft and has a rated operating water depth of 400 ft.

With impairment costs written off last Q4, tis Q1 results should be good and clean ! ;)

Billion-ringgit NIISe to replace ‘archaic’ Immigration system

KUALA LUMPUR: More than one billion ringgit will be spent to replace the archaic Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs), which has become increasingly prone to hacking, says Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

The Home Minister’s announcement comes just days after a syndicate involved in hacking the MyIMMs was crippled by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Immigration Department.

“The new National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) will cost over a billion to develop, and will replace MyIMMs, which is over 20 years old, ” he said at the ceremony to mark the start of NIISe’s development here yesterday.

He noted the current system has been in use by the department for such a long time that it has become prone to manipulation.

“Even if we upgrade the present system, it would have been in use by numerous officers for such a long time that their passwords would have become known to those seeking loopholes in the system, ” he said, citing the recent case where the department’s IT system had been compromised by a syndicate.

Hamzah said NISSe would be fully developed within 54 months, or by 2024.


“The company developing the system will work with the Immigration Department to prioritise the areas which need to be developed first, ” he added.

Asked if MyIMMs would still be vulnerable to hacking, he said authorities are now better equipped with the know-how on how to deal with such problems.

Hamzah noted the new system will have better security features and will be monitored by a centralised National Immigration Command centre.

He added that NISSe will provide the department with real time data while also allowing for online services and automation.

He said the system is also capable of performing facial and biometric recognition while conducting advanced passenger screening (APS).

On Tuesday, five suspects which included a Datuk, were arrested in a nationwide joint operation by MACC and the Immigration Department.

The five men, aged 33 to 44, belonged to a syndicate that hacked into MyIMMs to produce over 21,378 forged temporary foreign workers passes (PLKS) over the past few years.

MACC also seized property and cash totaling RM25.5mil, other than freezing 147 bank accounts of 30 individuals and 11 companies.

KUALA LUMPUR: There could be more contract wins in the pipeline for Velesto Energy Bhd as the company has 24 active tenders with a total bid value of RM2.9bil.

According to BIMB Securities Research, the company's recent multiple contract wins signify the recovery in offshore activites, which suggest the worst is over.

Velesto yesterday announced that its NAGA 4 secured a new contract with Sarawak/Sabah Shell to drill seven firm well with a contract value of US$17.68mil.

The contract is expected to begin in September 2021.

NAGA 4 is currently assigned to Mubadala Petroleum for the seven firm wells drilling campaign at Pegaga field until June 20201.

BIMB said the contract win is largely within its expectation but expects more contract wins in ahead.

"To recap, we expect Velesto to achieve utilisation rate of 70% for FY21.

"We expect more contract award in near future as the company is tendering for 24 contracts (16 short term and 8 long term) with total bid value of RM2.9bil," it said.

Currently, two rigs are still idle without contract, while NAGA 5 and NAGA 7 will end their short term contracts in June and September 2021 respectively.

The research house reiterated its "buy" call with an unchanged target price of 26.5 sen based on 1x FY21 forecast price-book.

KUALA LUMPUR: Velesto Energy Bhd’s shares rose in early trade Thursday after its unit secured a US$17.68mil contract for the provision of jack-up drilling rig services.

The oilfield services provider rose 5.88%, or one sen to 18 sen, its highest in about three weeks with 9.8 million shares done. Velesto-WA added 5.56%, or 0.5 sen to 9.5 sen.

Velesto’s wholly-owned subsidiary, velesto Drilling Sdn Bhd has won a contract for the provision of jack-up drilling rig services for Sarawak Shell Bhd/ Sabah Shell Petroleum Company Ltd.

It said the contract is for its jack-up rig, namely NAGA 4, with an estimated contract value of US$17.68mil.

The contract is to drill seven firm wells for a period from Aug 15 - Oct 15, 2021 it added.
