Boeing Co.’s best-selling plane is under a cloud. Regulators and airlines around the world suspended operation of the Boeing 737 Max after the fatal March 10 crash of an Ethiopian Airlines flight, less than five months after the same type of plane flown by Lion Air plunged into waters off Indonesia. The plane continued to fly in the U.S., where the Federal Aviation Administration, often viewed as a global authority on air safety, said it saw “no basis to order grounding the aircraft.” But then the U.S. reversed course, ordering the 737 Max grounded, according to U.S. President Donald Trump. American travelers quickly joined those elsewhere in wondering whether the global action will impact their flights.

BENGALURU: Shares of Boeing Co slid 9 percent in early trading on Monday as many airlines grounded the planemaker’s best selling 737 MAX 8 passenger jet following the second deadly crash involving the plane.

A Nairobi-bound Boeing 737 MAX 8 operated by Ethiopian Airlines crashed minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa on Sunday, killing all 157 on board. The same model flown by Lion Air crashed off the coast of Indonesia in October, killing all 189 on board.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China ordered Chinese airlines to ground all Boeing 737 MAX 8 planes after the crash.

The CAA said it would contact the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and Boeing regarding the resumption of operations once they are assured that measures have been taken to ensure safety.

Ethiopian Airlines said it had grounded its 737 MAX 8 fleet until further notice as an ”extra safety precaution” even though it did not know the cause of Sunday’s crash.

The 737 MAX 8 uses LEAP-1B engines made by CFM International, a joint venture of General Electric Co and Safran SA. Shares in Safran also fell 1.6 percent on Monday.

Boeing said on Monday the investigation into the Ethiopian Airlines crash is in its early stages and there is no need to issue new guidance to operators of its 737 MAX 8 aircraft based on the information it has so far.

檳州首长曹观友说，檳州2018年1月至9月的投资额达3 1亿令吉，虽然整年的数据未出炉，不过若有达到50亿令吉已是很好的表现了。

Earlier this month, Singapore’s Law Ministry said it was proposing a ban on the sale of set-top boxes or media streaming boxes with services that allow consumers access to pirated content.

According to reports, this is among proposed changes to the country’s Copyright Act, to be tabled in Parliament this year.

The amendments are the result of a three-year review and follows consultation with Singapore’s Intellectual Property Office, content providers, Pay-TV operators, and the public; and will introduce civil and criminal liabilities.



“If Malaysia passes similar legislation, we believe that it would be a huge catalyst for Astro,” the research house said.

The research house has maintained its earnings estimates, “buy” call on the counter and target price of RM1.95.

“We continue to like Astro for its high dividend yields of over 6%, attractive valuations and potential as an merger and acquisition or privatisation candidate,” it said.
