Agree with the frustrations on the MTec/SCGB comparison.

From the MTec quarterly figures, they do appear to have higher net margins on their products of about 7.5% to 8.% vs SCGB's 3% to 4%. Probably more specialized products compared to basic power cables

Looking at the Annual Report for MTec, you will notice the Top 30 control over 93% of the shares. The definition of a cornered stock? You decide...

Plus, judging by the names on the Top 30, there are some which are well known....Tau sama tau

The US market should provide SCGB with higher margin/more specialized products. The newly acquired factory and construction of 2 new ones will reward your patience.

From the 1Q24 Press Release :

To capitalise on growth opportunities, Southern Cable is expanding its production capacity.
In May 2024, the Group acquired a 7.9-acre industrial land with an existing building adjacent to its current facilities in Kuala Ketil, Kedah, for RM14.0 million. The newly acquired property will enable the Group to scale up production and meet the increasing demand both domestically and in the United States (US).
Tung added: “In addition to strong domestic growth, we are seeing a significant increase in demand from the US. Trade tensions and shifting supply chains have created a need for alternative suppliers in Asia, and Southern Cable is well-positioned to meet this demand. Our new facility will be instrumental in expanding our production capacity and broadening our product portfolio to better serve our US customer.”

“The newly acquired property will enable the group to scale up production and meet the increasing demand both domestically and in the United States,” the cable and wire manufacturer said in a statement.

The Group plans to commence equipping and upgrading the new facility in 2025. The facility is expected to support its target to increase export sales, particularly to the U.S. market.

Great vision by the Management.

Article from enanyang published on 31/05/24 which I have Google Translated below.
Not sure if this caused the surge in volume and spike in share price....

Recently, many data center concept stocks such as CloudPoint Technology (CLOUDPT), YTL Power (YTLPOWR), MN Holdings (MNHLDG), etc., have taken advantage of the hot data center and their share prices have seen a wave of increases.

Among the many companies, there is one data center concept stock that cannot be ignored, that is Southern Cable (SCGBHD).

Background and Business

Southern Cable is a cable company located in Kedah. Since its establishment in 1993, it has accumulated more than 30 years of experience in the wire and cable industry.

The company's business is mainly engaged in the manufacture and sale of various wires and cables, including power cables, communication cables and instrument cables.

The power cable is mainly used to transmit electrical energy, while the communication cable is used to transmit data.

Finally, instrumentation cables are suitable for measuring and monitoring in automated industrial processes.

Performance Analysis

The latest financial report shows that the company's revenue and profit both hit record highs. Revenue reached RM300 million, a 12% increase from the previous month, while profit increased from RM6.5 million to RM12.4 million, a 91% increase from the previous month. The increase in performance was mainly due to the increase in sales of their products and good financial management.

What is the connection between data centers and Southern Cable?

Data centers consume a lot of electricity to run, and the transmission of this electricity requires a lot of wires and cables. In other words, as the number of data centers increases, the demand for wires and cables will also increase significantly, which means that Southern Cable, which specializes in manufacturing cables, will naturally benefit from it.

Southern Cable SGDBHD
(From Southern Cable Facebook)

Why should we pay attention?

The primary reason is the topic that everyone is talking about in the recent market, which is that Microsoft announced that it will invest up to RM10 billion in Malaysia to support the development of technologies such as artificial intelligence and cloud systems.

This means that the demand for data centers will increase significantly, because data centers are like the brain of the Internet, which specializes in providing powerful computing power and massive data storage, which are also the necessary resources for the operation of artificial intelligence and cloud systems. Therefore, Southern Cable, as a cable supplier, will directly benefit from it.

Secondly, the country’s Net Energy Plan (NETR) will also open up a larger market for Southern Cable. This is because under the NETR plan, the country will focus on investing in renewable energy, such as solar photovoltaic projects, which require a large number of cables to connect solar panels and transmit electricity.

Precautions

However, Southern Cable faces the risk of raw material price fluctuations. Since copper and aluminum are the main raw materials for cables, their prices will also be affected by global market and exchange rate fluctuations. In addition, the company's current financial position shows that cash is RM96 million and total borrowings are RM196 million, with a net debt status, which may affect future investment and development plans.

A bright future

In summary, Southern Cable has a bright future, especially with the demand growth driven by Microsoft and the national new energy policy. Therefore, they are also sought after by investors, and the stock price is also showing an upward trend and standing above the 20-day moving average (EMA 20).

According to Bursa filing on 11 Dec 2020, the Company has settled its lawsuit with Gaya Belian Sdn Bhd. Hurray.... a win for SCIB.

Now Gaya Belian S/B most likely has to return shares back to SCIB that were used as part payment of a company acquisition in 2016.

The announcement not in detail but I suspect the 1,200,000 shares disposed of will go back to SCIB, most likely go into Treasury Shares Account or to be cancelled.

Either way, good for SCIB. Furthermore, these are likely to be pre-bonus issue shares, which will now become 4,800,000 shares.

For Gaya Belian to cease to be a substantial shareholder, they must have disposed of more shares to drop below the 5% threshold.

Watch this space....likely to have further announcements on this Court case settlement regarding the balance of the shares.

Imagine how much the 6.8 million original shares paid to Gaya Belian are worth today. Multiply by 4, multiply by RM 2.14 plus entitlement to 1:2 free warrants.....

Fuyohhhhh

Fc78020, yes mother price will be adjusted but "your loss" will be compensated in the Reference Price ( Opening Price) of the warrants at 9.00am on Monday.

Using the RM2.10 example as the price on last day (Cum Entitlement Price), theoretical ex-price is RM1.99

RM( 2.10 x 2) + RM 1.77 = RM 5.97

On Monday, mother price will be RM 1.99

Reference price for warrant = RM 1.99 - RM 1.77 = RM 0.22

To verify : RM (1.99 x 2) + RM 1.77 + RM 0.22 = RM 5.97

If warrants limit up on Monday, then it will go to RM 0.52.

All calculations, purely my best agak-agak only.

Good luck to all holders.

Some of the major points from The Edge article :

1) Management very focused on delivering results. Confident, low key yet quietly bullish

2) No guidance provided for FY2020 but indicated this year will be an exciting year in terms of earnings due to persistent growth in orders on top of additional orders related to Covid-19.

3) Major client #1 Edward Lifesciences is Top 5 global player in Cardiovascular device market. Major client #2 Ambu is Top player in single-use devices.

4) Due to excellent track records and necessary FDA and EMA approvals, have gained additional clients over the past 2 years.

5) Expansion programme planned. New products to be launched in 2nd Half of the year and have already received orders for them.

6) Based on the products that are jointly developed, can comfortably see growth and visibility over the next 10 years.

Above only a summary and not financial advice.

Those who own Scomnet, you should know what to do.
Those who do not own Scomnet, hopefully you know what to do.

Scomnet's big customer just announced very good Q2 results.

Ambu posted organic growth of 24% in Q2 as COVID-19 pandemic increased the demand for single-use devices. As a result, Ambu grew 19% in the first half of the year. Product launches for this year are progressing as planned, Ambu’s application for FDA-approval of the duodenoscope has been submitted, and further investments in the global sales organization are initiated. Full-year guidance for organic growth is lifted from “16-22%” to “26-30%” as already announced, and EBIT margin guidance for the full-year is resumed at 12-14% including commercial investments.

Each Quarterly results from Q1 to Q3 in FY2019 had a very consistent increase of between 45% to 50% higher than the correspondingly same quarter of FY2018.

For Q4, can Thong Guan do it again?

FY 2018 eps was 33.3 sen. Add 50% gives you almost 50 sen eps.

Please assign your own PE Ratio.

If the Affin Hwang TP of RM5.95 is true, then 50 sen eps and PE of 12 gives you RM6.00.....spot on.

tedbeh,

When the warrants are to be listed, Bursa will give the Warrants a
" Reference Price", based on a simple mathematical formula.

Let say, the Warrants are to list on 13/11, then the Reference Price should be :

Closing Price of GCB mother share at 5pm on 12/11 less RM 1.65.

Assuming that is RM 2.30 at 5pm on 12/11, then :

Reference Price = RM 2.30 less RM 1.65
= RM 0.65

That's only Bursa's Reference Price.

What the opening price for trading depends on what the market gives as " Time Value" plus the Reference Price.
So, based on above example, maybe the Warrants might open at RM 1 or higher or lower.

Your guess is as good as mine.

Split 1 into 2

Bonus free warrant 1:3 ( Original shares )

For ease of calculations, lets use 3 mother shares.

3 X RM 4.89 = RM 14.67

Add warrant conversion of RM 1.65

Total = RM 14.67 + RM 1.65 = RM 16.32

3 Original shares after split becomes 6.

Add 1 share from conversion of free warrant.

Total = 6+1 = 7 shares

RM 16.32 divide by 7 shares = RM 2.33

Hello Fellow Magni-ficents,

I am an infrequent contributor and small time investor. This thread has become quite interesting with diverging and somewhat heated opinions.

As I see it, we are in Magni forum because we either:
a) currently own it,
b) owned and sold it or
c) considering whether to buy this stock in future.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and each has their own motives.
Some up-ramp to push so they can sell, some down-ramp for opposite reason. Some happy to share and spread the good news. You either make money going long or make money shorting a particular stock.

As for Magni's share price rise, sure the corporate exercise was a factor ( up over 20 sen after announcement in August) but the greater and more sustained rally came AFTER their 1st Quarterly results and increased Interim Dividend. It was by all counts, a blow out quarter.

And to think the 1st Quarter is not traditionally their best quarter. Their 3rd quarter , straddling the Christmas and Holiday Seasons, is usually their best quarter. I am sure @chonghai will attest to this being a shareholder since 2013

Add to that 2020 is Olympics year. How much this will contribute only time will tell.

To be fair, Magni performed rather poorly dropping from RM7.30 in mid-2017 to aound RM4.00 at the end of 2018.

Disclaimer : I own Magni shares

I will now go back into my cave to hibernate.

Tan Sri Desmond Lim’s Group of companies (WCT, MALTON) looks likely to benefit from the termination of the Bandar Malaysia deal between MoF (through TRX City) and IWH-CREC. This is due to:

1. Back in Dec-15, out of 40 tenderers, there were only 2 strong tenderers – (1) TS Desmond Lim with his Qatar back and (2) TS Lim Kang Hoo (IWEH) together with CREC.

2. Although TS Desmond Lim eventually lost out the bid, news sources mentioned that TS Desmond Lim had inserted a bid valuing Bandar Malaysia lands at RM15b; higher than the RM13b valuation bid by IWH-CREC.

3. WCT (19% owned by TS Desmond) has already secured the MRT2 viaduct works (Package V204) from Bandar Malaysia towards Kampung Muhibah worth RM896m back in 2016.

4. Also, WCT had previously in Oct 2015 received a letter of award from 1MDB Real Estate S/B (currently TRX City S/B) for the completion of infrastructure and roadway works at the TRX worth RM755m. This infra works is close to the vicinity of Bandar Malaysia and hence this forms a strong working relationship between WCT, Bandar Malaysia and its owner – TRX City S/B.

Apparently Datuk Tee also has extensive property development businesses that he owns personally and not part of Kerjaya Prospek Bhd.
He now owns 16.7% of GSB after taking the entire 20% Private Placement last year.

Datuk Tee did RTO of Fututec Bhd and injected his construction businesses and today its known as Kerjaya Prospek Bhd.

Anyway, not sure if same thing will happen to GSB.

Good news , I guess. Maybe can give Bonus Issue to all shareholders instead :)

Dear Sifus,

Just joint as new member. Need to learn. Tq in advance.

JHM in ACE market right? I hear Fund Managers can not buy ACE counters?
Don't know if JHM can apply to transfer to Main Market or not.
