Ghl is one of analysts top picks with 6 Buy calls (out of 7 calls) with 40% upside amid growing efforts in e-commerce payment, buy now-pay later scheme (BPNL), and international ventures.

Kenanga analyst maintains forecast TP of RM0.88 and OUTPERFORM call.
GHLSYS guided for a strong 4QFY23 on: (i) RM1b e-wallet credits dished out via the eMadani initiative, and (ii) higher foreigners’ spending in Malaysia thanks to a 30-day visa-free entry for Chinese and Indian visitors from 1 Dec 2023. It has started direct merchant acquisition in the Philippines and will do the same in Thailand by end- 2023.
Analyst likes GHL for: (i) being the largest player in Malaysia’s terminal payment business, (ii) its venture into the buy now pay later (BNPL) scheme, and (iii) having a growing presence in neighbouring countries. Maintain OUTPERFORM.

Public Investment Bank maintains ‘overweight’ call for tech sector on upbeat outlook
Public Investment Bank Bhd (PIVB) has maintained an "overweight" call on the technology sector, following various upbeat outlook reports for global wafer capacity, semiconductor sales, equipment orders and personal computer (PC) sales.
In a note, the research bank said it is increasingly confident that the global technology downcycle has bottomed out.
"Malaysian players have started seeing the spillover effects from the intensifying United States (US)-China trade sanctions, as more technology-related investments are pouring into Malaysia, while some Chinese players are considering passing some chip-packaging orders to Malaysian peers.
PIVB noted that in a bid to diversify the supply chain and hedge risks against intensifying US chip export and chip-making equipment controls, a growing number of Chinese semiconductor design companies are tapping on Malaysia’s advanced chip-packaging services to assemble a type of graphic processing unit (GPU) that can be used in AI training.

This week the edge weekly (5/2/2024) very good article on insights to UWC.
Gists of the article:
Many of their customers from the front end segment have indicated that the semiconductor industry will be seeing a tsunami of orders in 2025. Therefore they are expanding their capacity to cater to their clients growing demand.
They are moving towards advanced packaging which essentially involves embedding the integrated circuit into the packaging. In todays context, the development of artificial intelligence chips relies heavily on advanced packaging.
Most importantly they are involved in front end semiconductor segment which is where the money is. Though now this segment contributes less than 10% of their revenue, but they are allocating 70% of capex for front end and is expecting front end segment to contribute 30-40% of the group top line.
Those who are familiar with semi conductor industry, Front end is rare segment in Malaysia and its lucrative segment. Hence this company will have good potential and bright future.

Emerging signs of recovery in China, a further pick-up in tourism activity and a stronger momentum in trade has led RHB Research to upgrade its call on the transportation sector to “overweight”.
The research house said in a note that signs of recovery are in place for the sector, based on positive macroeconomic and sectoral indicators.
“RHB Economics expects trade momentum to strengthen beyond the fourth quarter of 2023 (4Q23), supported by the resilience of the United States and regional economies, global technology-cycle rebound, and early signs of recovery in China.
Within the transportation sector, one of RHB Research’s top pick is Tasco Bhd.
Within the logistics sector, RHB Research pointed out that Tasco stands out for its diversified client base and business segments that will sustain its earnings base.
Tasco’s integrated-logistics-services tax incentives would also offer a buffer against sector headwinds, the research house added.

Stock: [SAMAIDEN]: SAMAIDEN GROUP BERHAD
2024-07-19 14:35 | Report Abuse
Midf TP 1.57
Samaiden inked a business collaboration agreement (BCA) with Gruppe Lightning Solution Sdn Bhd to explore
opportunities surrounding solar street lighting, efficiency and other renewable energy related services and solutions
in the Southeast Asia region.
• Collaboration also extends to smart city projects that integrate solar streetlights with Internet of Things (IoT)
capabilities
• BCA is effective for three years starting 26th June.
OUR VIEW
• Avenue to expand portfolio. The collaboration with Gruppe opens the avenue for Samaiden to expand its
capabilities into advanced lighting solutions driven by solar, hence providing the group with opportunities to replenish
its order book and expand its renewable energy initiatives.
• Strong order book. Outstanding orderbook stood at RM354m as at end-March 2024 which will keep the group
busy over the next three years. Samaiden is eyeing at least 100MW of EPCC jobs for the Corporate Green Power
Programme (CGPP), which translates into potential RM300-400m incremental orderbook. Further out, the upcoming
2GW LSS5 (bidding opened in April 2024) and 400MW additional Net Energy Metering quota for CY24 (offered from
5th February 2024) cements future orderbook replenishment outlook.
• Earnings estimate and TP. We are making no changes to our forecasts.
• Reiterate BUY. We maintain our BUY call on Samaiden being one of the key beneficiaries of EPCC prospects under
the CGPP and the long-term RE growth potential from the National Energy Transition Roadmap.
