yes, feds tapering is old news like in July..except now the emerging mkts are feeling the effects of the actual capital outflows with the Jkt, Indian n Thai stock mkt and their currencies getting whacked..

Emerging-market stocks fell to lowest level in six weeks, led by Indonesia as the rupiah declined for a fourth day on concern capital outflows will accelerate.
This outflow of funds will gain more momentum as the U.S. moves closer to signal the start of tapering its stimulus.As liquidity is reduced, emerging markets will be in for a rollercoaster ride.
The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) has tumbled at the fastest pace worldwide this quarter, losing 13 percent..

Analysts said the selling of Maybank and CIMB could be due to their exposure to Indonesia via their banking operations.
The worst hit was the Jakarta Composite Index which fell 3.21%, followed by Japan's Nikkei 225 and Thailand's SET, down 2.63% each while Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index lost 2.2%.
There were rising concerns about a contagion effect from Indonesia, analysts added.
At Bursa, the major decliners were Maybank, which fell 48 sen to RM9.96 and CIMB 32 sen to RM7.58. They erased a combined 12.91 points from the KLCI.

India's currency cartwheeled to historic lows on Monday while markets in Indonesia took a spill, evidence of how rising U.S. yields are making it harder for emerging nations to fund their current account deficits.
The turbulence heightened investor caution ahead of Wednesday's minutes of the Federal Reserve's last policy meeting, with many fearing they might only add to the confusion about when it might scale back stimulus.
That helped gold reach its highest in two months, while keeping share markets constrained across Asia.
The Indian rupee slid as far as 62.50 per dollar, emphatically breaching the previous low of 62.03. The share market lost 1.4 percent, on top of a 4 percent drubbing last Friday.
The currency has been hurt by investor frustration at the slow pace of economic reform in India, which has made it harder for the country to finance its hefty current account shortfall.

Indonesia's rupiah shed 0.9 percent to four-year lows at 10,475 per dollar, with share and bond markets weakening in the wake of data showing a sharp widening in the country's current account deficit.

Positive breakthrough in Langat 2 water treatment plant issue - Mahdzhir
A breakthrough has been achieved between the Federal Government and the Selangor Government over the Langat 2 water treatment plant. Deputy Energy. Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Mahadzir Khalid said both parties had agreed to put aside their political differences and work towards resolving the anticipated water supply crisis to hit Klang Valley by 2017. "If this project takes off soon, the water issue plaguing the Klang Valley will soon be solved." he said.

"We are glad that the Selangor government understands that political differences should be put aside to ensure the best results for the people." he said. He said negotiations were not limited to the Langat 2 project, but involved a holistic approach on related water issues. (BT)
