Apart from Malaysia, Ang said JRB is also
looking into acquiring and developing RE assets in Southeast Asia, particularly Vietnam and Indonesia.


He said the power demand is booming in Vietnam due to the strong economic growth and growing population, and the Vietnamese government expects power consumption to grow between 10 per cent to 12 per cent annually through to 2030, doubling from 60GW in 2020 to 150 GW by 2030.


Elaborating further, Ang said the Vietnamese government had approved the Power Development Plan 8 (PDP8), which shows the country's commitment towards decarbonisation, since the announcement of its net zero ambitions made at The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) Summit in 2021.


"The RE will account for approximately 50 per cent of the energy mix by 2030, with 19.5 per cent from hydropower, 18.5 per cent from wind and 8.5 per cent from solar.
"This aligns perfectly with our objective of seeking RE opportunities in Vietnam," Ang said.

KUALA LUMPUR: Jaks Resources Bhd (JRB) is upbeat about securing more renewable energy (RE), including hydro and wind power assets in Malaysia following the completion of the RM220 million 50MW solar farm under the large-scale solar (LSS4) project in Nibong Tebal, Penang.
"On solar projects, we are participating in the Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP) with bids of up to 50MW.


"We are also in discussion with several private and state-backed companies for large-scale solar projects," chief executive officer Ang Lam Poah told The New Straits Times.


Ang said that under the 50 megawatts LSS4 tender, the government had awarded 10 local companies, and JRB was the first to complete the given project ahead of schedule.


He said the Nibong Tebal 50-megawatt project is now undergoing the testing and commissioning phase by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).
"Our target is to commence commercial operations by mid of July and is scheduled to be the first 50MW solar farm under LSS4 to be completed ahead of schedule," Ang said.


The solar farm will contribute to Malaysia's target of achieving a 31 per cent renewable energy mix by 2025 and a 40 per cent RE mix by 2035.

No matter how good you say about jaks and how you twist the facts ,the very fact is that it is trading at 0.19 which is what it is worth at now in the view of the market.

In order to generate sustainable and predictable income stream, JAKS has diversified into power generation on the international front in 2011, through JAKS Hai Duong Power Company Limited ("JHDP"). JHDP has been granted the Investment Certificate by the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Vietnam on June 2011 to develop a 2 x 600 MW Coal Fired Thermal Power Plant Project in Phuc Thanh Commune, Kinh Mon District, Hai Duong Province, Vietnam ("Hai Duong BOT Thermal Power Plant"), under the form of Build-Operate-Transfer ("BOT") for 25 years.

Hoho during 2017 to 2021 , Vietnam Project is under construction, At least the Projects is completed n commissioned on Jan 2021 , even during Pandemic period.

Now the information is more clear compared to previous years .

As disclosed in the Q4’s quarterly results on 24 February 22, there were RM22 m and RM23 m provided for impairments of goodwill and trade receivables respectively. Kindly clarify on this and whether these impairments were related to interested persons of the Company. From which segment (property or construction) the impairment on receivable is allotted from?


- Impairments are made in accordance with the relevant accounting standards.
- The receivables impairment are mainly in respect of the property and construction segment. As last 2 years was challenging where everyone was faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, it is prudent to expect impairments.

The Group has RM102 m as at 31 March 2022, but it was raised through Private Placement and Rights Issue undertaken during FY21 and FY20 of RM129.5 m and RM254.3 m respectively. How can the Company states that its financial position remained healthy when it is not able to raise funding internally for its operations and expansion activities from its current businesses?

- The Power infrastructure and Utilities Projects undertaken by JAKS are generally capital- intensive in nature, such as the power plant in Vietnam which has started to contribute earnings.

- As such, all decisions in relation to the capital structure to fund our projects are evaluated extensively to ensure they are undertaken in the best interest of the company.

- We are of the view that the Group’s debt to equity ratio is considered low as compared to its peers.

- We look forward to shareholders continued support of the Group’s growth plans for more sustainable income.

The receivables consist of contract and retention sums for construction projects, including the USD454m Engineering, Procurement and Construction (“EPC”) 2 Vietnam Contract. We do not foresee any problems with the collection when it is fully completed.
