I had read a news just last week where there was a investment banker who said, "to survive in the share market, one has to know when to lock profits and when to cut loss". Do you understand what he means?

It means, the share market is very unpredictable and when something happens, you have to act accordingly to and at that time. I have not yet mastered these two skills as compared to Sifu Michael who has 28 years of experience in this field. So, thumbs up to him!

Last but not least, Calvin Tan once said, one has to know the difference of "return ON the capital" and "return OF the capital"! Do you understand what he means?

"Return on the capital" means that a person thinks only on the profit gain, whereas "Return of the capital" means that a person thinks on the capital money. This is where "cut loss" comes into the picture. When you cut loss on a stock, you places more importance on the capital rather than the profit itself. This is why Sifu Michael has been advising us to cut loss on a particular stock whenever he sensed a reversing stock. As long as you don't cut loss on it, the declining stock will become your paper loss in the end and your capital will shrink till the support level of that stock. The market of course won't eat up all your money, only that your money (capital) has shrank, that's all. This is also what Sifu Michael meant to teach us all, ok.

When you are at the bottom or near bottom, what else are there for you to fear?

To see2sea, just be patient, ok, as what Mabel, the big meow, has always practised. Do not be so pessimistic after just a volatile moment. As Sifu Michael has said, we are not buying at the top and we are not buying at the lowest point. So, just be patient and wait for your time when the stock rises!

As long as we stay away from the speculative stocks, I am sure we are safe from the hands of the sharks and syndicates. Unlike our past experiences, as you and I have encountered. So, cheers!

As humans, it’s difficult to practice patience because…

We associate doing more with better results.
We hate being bored.
We are exposed to A LOT of noise in social and financial media.
We don’t like seeing our losers, so we sell on no fundamental news.
We often position size poorly, so we always have to keep on trading around our position.
We focus too much on quarterly earnings.
The list goes on…

As you probably know, the best investors make the fewest decisions...

Sifu Michael, I saw news today saying that Astino is giving out a 4 to 5 bonus share, just like Pharmaniaga. You are so right that it is a trend nowadays for the companies to give out bonus shares to attract more investors in.

Ok, Sifu Michael! Will wait for your instruction to sell. I have not encounter such matter before, so I kinda worry that I may be stuck in such stocks (especially after the bonus share has been given and the price gone down due to the adjustments). Nobody can know for sure whether that company's share will go up further after the bonus issue. And this is what worries me.

I have bought 3 lots Pharmaniaga share at RM3.38 earlier. I saw in the news that it was proposing to give 4 for 1 bonus share at a date later. I want to ask for your professional advice about this stock. Do I sell it when it reach RM4.60 above (or) to wait till after the bonus share given and price will be adjusted to (example) 80 cents? My stock for 3 month or less.Tht it.Playing less more thn 3 months.The first 2 months of the big drop usually people slow to react.Except for stocks tht run very high.

Do you think the big drop would affect the stocks which we have bought during the third quarter? I am kinda worrisome! Should we sell off and pull back our nets for the time being? And wait for the tide to ride over, say two or three months later (just like last year)?

Sifu Michael, I have bought Tawin stock at 0.395 cents earlier. I have noticed that it has announced of offering rights share to its investors next month. Is this good or bad? Will the company suppress the price down before this exercise is completed? Should I hold or sell off before the ex-date (since I have no intention of buying the rights share)? Will the price go up, following Asiaply (regardless of the rights share matter)?

Ah, Fintech, I did buy this stock last year too at 13 cents, based on the volume it was moving at that time. Due to my inexperience, I bought 10 or 20 lots and waiting eagerly for it to rise. But alas, very soon I began to realize that something was not right since it had been dropping each new day, so luckily I was quick to cut loss and sold it at 11 cents. One officer from Public Bank even called me up to find out whether I want to buy extra lots being offered by Fintech at a special price of 8.5 cents. Immediately I rejected straight away (due to empty pockets already, know what I mean?) and told him/her off saying, I had just sold it off a day ago and what for, I wanna buy this (special price) lot anymore.

The same fate happened with Kanger stock dropping down (aiyoh, poor damn unlucky me)!

If only I had a good samaritan like Sifu Michael's advice or opinion at that time, I would straight away sell it without any further delay. How I wish those people would appreciate more a great sifu like you who are kind enough and selfless to advise them!
