Sinmah Capital focuses building hospitals for B40 and M40

Former poultry producer Sinmah Capital Bhd (SMCap) plans to build between 20 and 25 hospitals in 10 years to capture the bottom 40 (B40) and middle 40 (M40) income groups.

Aiming to provide affordable healthcare services, SMCap, through its unit Sinmah Amegajaya Healthcare Sdn Bhd, plans to begin construction of four hospitals in Malacca and Negri Sembilan respectively under the "Integrated Public-Private University Hospital" (IPPUH) concept.

SMCap group managing director Datuk Fong Kok Yong said the new concept of medical facility would benefit the B40 and M40 groups as the prices would be considerable lower than those of other private hospitals.

"We will still maintain the quality of services provided but will provide medical care at a discount to patients. We also plan to tie up with a sole insurance company that provides affordable medical premiums which thet can use to enjoy the hospital facilities.

"The target groups will stand to benefit most from this new business model and some may not even have to pay at all but rather the insurance company will pay it.

"The insurance will also cover all services including the in-patient services since the insurance companies will be able to come up with an equilibrium to the premiums due to the lower hospital charges," he told the media at a signing ceremony here on Thursday.

SMCap signed a deal to buy a property in Nilai, Negri Sembilan for RM27 million with plans to redevelop it into Malaysia's full-service IPPUH.

Sterling Medical Centre is poised to begin construction in March 2019 and to be completed in 28 months.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 27): Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd’s net profit shot up to RM100 million in its first quarter ended Sept 30, 2018 (1QFY19), nine times the RM10.78 million it achieved a year ago, as revenue jumped six times on contribution from two producing assets, Anasuria in the UK and North Sabah in Malaysia.

In the year-ago quarter, Anasuria was the group's sole producing asset when it recorded a revenue of RM58.24 million, which has grown to RM359.96 million in 1QFY19, its Bursa Malaysia filing showed. Earnings per share rose to 6.30 sen from 0.73 sen."
