Jasonred, thats no signal. The IB's are the Market Makers. Its incumbent on them to provide Buy & Sell que's. There will always be a spread. Some poor souls get fooled by the large que and join in. The IB will sell or buy from him as the case may be.

Structured Warrants - An investors Doom & an Issuer's delight?

Company stocks are primarily issued to Fund raise for a purpose which the company deems appropriate and regulated by the relevant Authorities.

As a premise. The share price of a company is already subjected to the many economic events that happen.Most often, even events in foreign nations and markets impact the share prices of a company. Eventually, however, the fundamental metrics of the business will see the share price settling a fairly reasonable valuations.

Derivatives (With particular reference to Structured Warrants)

My first thought is, is'nt that Legal Gambling ? And as in most gambling scenarios the table takes the cake.

What is a Structured Warrant ?
An instrument issued by a 3rd party based on the price of share of a particular company.

What are the terms of a Structured Warrant?
Lets assume :
1. Issuer - Lets call it Party 'A'
2. Warrant holder - Lets call it Party 'B'
3. Underlying Share - Lets call it Party 'C'
4. Strike price - Lets call it 'X'
5. Expiry date - Lets call it D

Mow, Party A and Party B are the primary buyer and seller. Everyone else is "Structured' into the Warrant.

In short A is telling B that the share of C will be X on a particular date (D date)

Sounds familiar ? Seems to me like a Lotto ticket.

Then A tells B that he can actually buy and sell that Warrant on an exchange.

So far so good ? No B is also told that on the D date he will receive the difference in price between the share price of C and the the strike price X IF the price of C is more (CALL) or less (PUT) than X.

Hope thats clear. In effect, A is guessing the price of a company C at a time in the future and A is also asking people B to bet on it. How is that considered an informed investment decision ?

What if Scenarios:
1. What if the conditions of the warrant at expiry do not favour the issuer?
2. What if the conditions of the warrant favour the issuer?

In either case, the issuer is duty bound to itself to ensure it does not lose money.

That begs the question. Does anyone else gain (ever) in a structured warrant? The Party C has nothing to gain. In fact it is mute spectator to the drama called "Structured Warrants". Party B may win or lose. Given that party B is a small investor and Party A is a large fund, its anybody's guess who will win and who will lose.

I leave it to you, the readers, to decide for yourselves on the question posed in the title.

1. That ASP will decline
2. That capacity will not increase beyond what is announced.
3. That demand will drop every year.

The other side of the coin is, with the amount of money TG is making, there is nothing stopping them from buying out any and all capacities existing or new. After all, they have been very successful in running multiple factories in multiple locations. Obviously, they have domain knowledge.
