As it stands, the common view is that ASP will most probably revert back to pre-pandemic levels or even lower, due to an expectation of a supply glut. There has been no shortage of announcements by new entrants wanting to jump on the bandwagon to build glove factories.
While some are credible, there are many dubious ones that appear to be wanting to ride on the stock market rally of the glove manufacturers.
While the threat of new entrants should not be taken lightly and will at some point alter the demand-supply dynamics of the sector, we think the concerns have been overblown.
In the US, the Department of Health and Human Sciences has projected a global shortfall of gloves to the tune of more than 200 bn pieces. Its Strategic National Stockpile, meant to be the source of last resort after hospitals have exhausted their supplies, is running dangerously low on gloves. Its aspiration is to have on hand a 90-day supply in the stockpile, or 4.5 bn gloves. As it stands, it has 2 mn pieces.
Assuming the 200 bn shortage of gloves is the reality, and we see no reason for the Department of State to inflate the number, as it will only serve the purpose of causing further panic and driving up ASP for the hospitals—our supply model suggests that it will take a
minimum of another three years for supply to catch up.

US alone shortage 200b gloves, how about Europe and other parts of the world?

and by 2022 they will have 20b cash - maybe pay out 10b in this 2 years, thats worth like Rm1.20 per share of dividend, even when things get to normal, topglove capacity will be 130b in fy2023 x usd4.1 x asp of usd30 x 12% = a normalised profit of Rm1.8-1.9b, just value at 26x of curent price, not expensive!

ARGMA estimates that the global glove demand to grow by 15-20% yoy for the next 3-5 years, vs average 8-10% in the past. It also expects annual global glove demand to reach 440bn (+22.2% yoy) in 2021F, assuming Covid-19 is over. With Covid-19, this figure is expected to go higher. MARGMA is of the view that supply will continue to outstrip demand for the next few years. While Malaysia is currently producing 280bn gloves currently, MARGMA expects a new 30bn capacity from existing glove makers, another 20bn from new players and another 20bn new capacity from overseas players. This will still see a supply shortage of 90bn vs expected global glove demand of 440bn in 2021.
