Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said he would be presenting a White Paper on Felda in the next parliamentary sitting in October, which would lay out Felda’s situation and financial position as well as its strategic rehabilitation plan.

Megat Zaharuddin said Felda would be providing the information and key findings for the White Paper.

“Turning around Felda is our job,” he stressed.

Felda is also the single largest shareholder with a 34% stake in diversified plantation group FGV Holdings Bhd, the world’s largest CPO producer.

Megat Zaharuddin is hoping that FGV can turn around within the next six months to one year.

Annually, he said FGV contributed about RM400mil to Felda from land lease agreements, profits and dividends.

“We believe that the contribution should be higher. But this all depends on FGV’s productivity, as well as the CPO prices and the fresh fruit bunch (FFB) production,” he said.

He said FGV’s FFB production was below the national average and it needed to be addressed.
Additionally, Megat Zaharuddin said Felda also needed to improve its productivity to increase earnings.

“Our FFB productivity at Felda is above the national average of 20 tonnes per hectare per year, but we are not yet best in class,” he said, adding that 24 tonnes per hectare was the target.

The MD says their target of yield is "17mt", if I am the MD, i will tell the estate managers to increase it to "18", 400,000ha too huge to check d weakness. MD to form the team of 5 n each concentrate on one estate (each 1 estate) near to KL n take full responsibility of that particular estate(if not free shd send d audit team to check). They should give 100% supervision on fertiliser application of their selected estate. Yield for sure go up up n if can be proven on 5 estates other managers will be shivering n all will run to the field to increase the yield.....

I started my career with AEB in the early 70s' n retired with Sime, what i saw managers dont like to go to field which is killing GLC oil palm plantations hence billions being lost mainly due to "no field supervision" its so simple to turn around, very simple n yet not done just like 61 yrs of BN, ruling without common sense

If all field managers are comitted on field supetvision n must increase the yield above 23 mt or be sacked that is the "turn around" which i want to see otherwise all of us are being taken for a ride
