Definitely I am in it for the long haul and am expecting a equally big haul
At around current prices a payout of 4 sen would be fine with me. In testing times, management should bunker down, invest wisely eg adding capacity for water business and emerge much stronger when recovery takes shape.
A 4 sen payout I believe offers a good yield of 7pct. Of course those who bought at higher prices won’t be too happy..... but it’s for long term.
As for QL, if I had bought in 2009, given the capital gains, dividend is a mere afterthought. Let’s hope Gkent can replicate it

Philip,
You are peaching to the converted and appreciate the refresher.
I was just highlighting predicaments confronting investors . The
In this sharp market downturn, I am sure many would have predicted so called value stocks to hold better than growrh but it seems to prove otherwise

Since I have your attention please allow me to point an anomaly and it’s not intended to belittle you.
Phillip currently holds six Bursa counters ie Gkent, Pchem, Topglove, QL, Yinson and Serba. By your own admission , you have a position in the 1st two mentioned. A basic inspection by me would bear the same outcome as lowest PE and higher yields tip the scales. The other 4 will be ignored based on a combo of extremely high PE low yields high gearing etc
Strangely enough or maybe not, it’s the 2 reasonably valued stocks that tanked and the rest holding out well in relative terms. Perhaps we should unlearn what we already know. Just food for thought...... no?

Haha Sslee, did you just short QL? It’s gone berserk
Hope that inhaler of yours is not clouding your judgement

That is a unreasonable assumption given the current situation. I expect and fully support a cut to preserve cash

Philip,
Companies in mature markets are sctapping and suspending dividends. In times like this it might be a wise move. Your thoughts please

Haha, keyed in your name all wrong sale, sorry.
Also while in Miri, take a 4 hour drive to Bintulu and check up on one of Serba projects there

Sales,
Initially you are buying into Philips stock picks and now you wish to move in with him?
Stay in Miri. When 3 months is fast approaching, it’s only about an hour drive to Brunei and get your passport stamped.

So how do you explain the heavily debt QL is outperforming the cash rich HLI?

As you put it catastrophic situation, FA still matters?
And if and when Serba hits 10 sen how low can the other 2 go?

Shpg,
I note you comments but I can’t help noticing you are selectively aiming your target at certain stocks.
HLI and Scientex being your favored seems exempted despite not being spared in this downturn. Correct me if I am wrong

You cut loss? That’s a smart move in this relief rally. As someone put it here 10 sen is all it’s worth and I am not referring to the warrants

Informative and compelling read. Much appreciated. Reminds me of finance minister tabling his budget and at the same time taking aim at his detractors. Well laying bare your portfolio has its privileges I guess.

Philip, I am slightly taken aback with your assertion. After all you did pop by at Gkent office to chat with their engineers. Now that is sort of a personalized AGM. And kudos to you too for popping up at Sam despite not being a shareholder. Or perhaps you are just being a step ahead of me......

If you had obtained the warrants thru splits and bonus, premium is 53%.
If you bought warrants at 50 sen, premium is 76%
2019-12-16 20:15 | Report Abuse
This hle portal of mine is driving me bonkers too. Let me take a wild stab here.
53% premium squats to FREE warrants. However if you buy at say 50 sen, it will be 76% premium

My bad. I thought it’s 1 for 1 too....
In this case premium is not way higher initially thought but have to cough up much more for conversion

At 30 sen now either WA is way too high or mother has some serious catching up to do
Looking for other WA that’s trading at 50% to their mother must be very few and far between
Pls correct me if I am wrong
2019-12-14 09:03 | Report Abuse
If 94 sen, mother would have to nearly double in value.
GCB wa however is only at 5% premium to its mother
For a Serba bull like me, doubling up in 5 years could be a bridge too far.....

Lots of assumptions, judgements made on Serba. However unlike Insas, Serba have not been put to the sword by your stringent and rigorous research as the former. May I suggest all the tough questions be posed to Karim in the upcoming AGM.?
