Acquisition for Fast Expansion
 AirAsia (49%) and Fersindo (51%) will acquire 100% of
Metro Batavia (own 100% of Batavia Air) for US$80m
(RM253m), with cash.
 We view the acquisition price of US$80m (inclusive of debt
of US$40m) is relatively cheap price, given it owns 17
aircrafts, huge network and distribution channels. In fact,
Batavia is the 3rd largest domestic carrier in Indonesia with
14.2% market share, complementing Indonesia AirAsia’s
largest international market share in Indonesia.
 Positive on AirAsia Group to expand its fleets and network,
in grabbing larger market share through acquisition in the

Benalec posts higher Q2 profit
Benalec Holdings Bhd has registered a revenue of RM26.89 million for the second quarter ended Dec 31, 2011 compared with RM45.223 million in the previous corresponding quarter.

The decrease was mainly due to certain projects located in Melaka already reached the completion stage, the integrated marine construction and vessel chartering services provider said in a filing to Bursa Malaysia today.

The group registered a higher profit after taxation of RM28.84 million compared with RM18.910 million previously due to net gain on sale of land, offset by lower gross profit and higher operating expenses.

For the six month ended Dec 31, 2011, the group registered a revenue of RM101.47 million compared to RM97.43 million previously, representing a marginal increase of approximately RM4.04 million or 4.15 per cent.







The increase in the revenue was mainly due to the increased activities in reclamation works being undertaken in Melaka and Port Klang.

Benalec registered a profit after taxation of RM57.77 million for the six months compared to RM48.868 posted during six months ended Dec 31,2010.

Benalec expects its overall financial performance for the current financial year to remain positive. -- Bernama
