I think y the price did not move so fast today because so many genius n so called expert havent have time to do research in short notice. The news is out 30mnits before market resume. N thinking it is error in pricing, unbelievable contract, cheating n etc.

Hence give no confidence. Can see the like of people in above comments. Lets see 1-3 days when the contract is firm real we will see the price move or limit up

River sand from Teluk Intan likely sold in China starting next year

TELUK INTAN, Malaysia ( Sin Chew Daily/ANN) - Top quality river sand from Perak River in Teluk Intan with a monthly production of 1 million tonnes will be sold to China starting next year.

Top quality river sand from Perak River in Teluk Intan with a monthly production of 1 million tonnes will be sold to China starting next year. The Water, Land and Natural Resources Ministry has issued a total of 11 permits to sand mining companies this year, an increase from only four permits last year.
A total of 11 companies in Malaysia are awarded permits issued by Water, land and Natural Resources Ministry to export river sand to overseas.
Sin Chew Daily learned that the ministry issued permits to four companies in 2018 and the number of permits increased to 11 this year.
The first batch of 50,000 tonnes river sand produced in Teluk Intan would be exported to China through the Lumut Port. Once the operation of sand mining is in full swing, the production is expected to increase to 1 million tonnes a month.
An operator who declined to be named said Pahang, Terengganu and Johor started exporting river sand to China two years ago. This round not only agent hired by the private sectors of China visited Teluk Intan to arrange export of sand to China but China also sent its official representatives to Teluk Intan for the same reason.
River sand produced in Teluk Intan is said to be top quality sand as construction material.
“The initial survey shows that Teluk Intan has 100 million tonnes of river sand. With the monthly production of 1 million tonne per month, sand mining can be held for five to seven years. The top quality refine sand exported to China is about US$9.30 (RM38) per tonne. To Perak and Malaysia this is a lucrative foreign exchange. Teluk Intan may produce up to 2 million tonnes a month. Once the river sand is reduced by 20%, sand mining operation will stop completely for the environment of the river to recover,’’ he said.
The operator also said river sand exporters are also negotiating with Japan and India to export top quality sand to these two countries. Japan buys refine sand for water filter.
Pasir Bedamar assemblyman R.N. Terence Naidu under Teluk Intan parliamentary constituency confirms that he attended meeting of operators making arrangement to export river sand to China.
“This is the first time river sand from Perak is exported to overseas. The statement will receive tax revenue of RM8 (US$1.93) per tonne. It is good news judging from economic point of view. I have also received phone calls from public showing concern of this latest development,’’ he said.
Some said the operation would deepen the riverbed and reduce flood in Teluk Intan caused by high tide. Some express worry that the sand mining activities would have negative impact on river in Teluk Intan.
“During the meeting, operators said they would set up office in Teluk Intan to receive complaints from locals. The operators are also willing to work with the government to ensure sand mining would not be hazardous to the environment of Teluk Intan,’’ he said.
United Malaysia Kin Cho Hong (construction) Association honorary president Zhang Sheng An said as a housing developer, he finds the quality of river sand in Teluk Intan a top class construction material. It is because of this reason that oversea buyers are coming in.
He said appropriate sand mining operations would help to clean the Teluk Intan riverbed. It is a good development. But the government should impose strict control not to have excessive mining which cast adverse impact to the environment.
