BN promises halt to toll hike - but only up to 2016

Apr 11: BN chairman Najib Razak has been asked to explain why its manifesto - cheekily dubbed by some as ‘moneyfesto’ - would only halt toll rates hike up to 2016.

“Are the toll rates going to rise by 5 percent every three years until 2037?” asked PAS's research centre director Dzulkefly Ahmad today.

He said the policy shows that Najib still harboured the intention to continue privatisation of highways to the detriment of road users.

He also pointed out that many highway projects in the pipeline including the West Coast highway will be tolled highways and handed over to cronies to reap profits.

Dzulkefly further said that Pakatan Rakyat’s promise to abolish toll collection on highways whose operators have already got back their capital was more practical in helping the common man.

A party strongman pleads for voters’ mercy, but some people believe that hypocrisy, fraud and tyranny are unpardonable.

Not for the first time in its recent history, MCA is now reduced to begging for votes.

“I hope the people will give us some votes. Don’t make us eat egg,” party vice-president Donald Lim said in a recent interview with Oriental News Daily, a Chinese language online newspaper.

He claimed that MCA, despite its disastrous showing in the 2008 election, had spent the last five years working hard to regain voter support, implying that it deserved pity, if not appreciation.

Lim’s plea was directed primarily at voters in Selangor, where he is MCA’s state liaison chief, but the humble pie he ate came from the same oven that baked the one Ong Ka Chuan felt compelled to swallow just before the 2008 election, when he was the party’s secretary-general.

Addressing voters in Perak’s Kinta Valley, Ong said: “If you have five people in your household, I plead with you to give one vote to MCA.”

According to English theologian Frederick William Robertson (1816-1853), there are three things that deserve no mercy: hypocrisy, fraud and tyranny.

Many of MCA’s detractors would say that the party has been guilty of all three sins.

Toll - its a lopsided thing and toll concessionnaires are laughing all the way to the bank, the more holidays, the happier these ppl are... why is the government of the day so reluctant to review and re-negotiate these concessions? I can only think of one word - CORRUPTION!

I say easy Mat Cendana...get those UMNO people, who had taken almost everything from the people & country corruptly, to court and get back the money stolen to pay for it. Mind asking who are the real owners of Plus before??? A $2 UMNO company getting grants from the government to build the highway....you think the people are stupid and don't know this???? Hello Namoyaki Takarajima, what's wrong in keeping Malaysians informed when the daily newspapers don't speak the truth? They report only nothing good of the opposition parties and but posted everything good about Barang Naik parties ONLY but there is sometimes no truth in it and that's why these papers sometimes get sued. You know practically well that almost all Malaysian papers belong to the BN parties. So what real information can Malaysians have, may I ask you???

So, may I ask you if the Malaysian people are getting the true news? General Elections is coming and it affects everyone whether you like it or not and even the share market is affected too. Even if I post any new information, it doesn't matter if there's a reply or not , for as long as Malaysians are kept informed that's what really matters.

And Namoyaki Takarajima, if you are NOT interested, then just don't bother to look into the topic and just move on...it's as simple as this...do you understand or do I have to repeat it so many times when I have said before?

There is sufficient evidence to reopen the investigation into private investigator P Balasubramaniam's second statutory declaration, says former IGP Musa Hassan.

Musa believes the claim by lawyer Americk Sidhu that Cecil Abraham was responsible for Bala's second SD is enough evidence to re-open the case.

Penang caretaker gov’t returns official cars

The caretaker Penang government has handed over the keys of its official cars to state secretary Farizan Darus, in accordance with the pledge of integrity.

Caretaker Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng (left)handed over the keys of his car and those belonging to his deputies Mansor Othman and P Ramasamy, as well as those used by his state executive councillors.

“The official cars should not be misused for our own personal use or for the party and should be used only for state government purposes,” Lim told a press conference today.

“This is the integrity held by the state administration although we are now only the caretaker government.

“The same goes for our drivers who will only work according to office hours and when we are attending state official functons.”

Lim also reminded his state lawmakers and administrators not to use the official cars for the election campaign, which has been in full swing ever since he dissolved the state legislative assembly on April 5.

The dissolution came two days after Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced the dissolution of Parliament on April 3, in Putrajaya.

The Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his entire cabinet tells us that the Lynas factory in Kuantan is safe. Or are they just eager to let Lynas get on with their 12-year tax-free business plan to make billions of profits at our expense?

What did BN make a U-turn on the need to export the radioactive wastes from Malaysia? Why was Lynas allowed to started its operation without long term waste management plan, without proper decommissioning and dismantling plan. Why hasn’t the Temporary Operating License (TOL) been suspended since Lynas has publicly stated that it will not ship its wastes abroad? Will our Ministers move their homes to Lynas’ backyard?

If Najib ask us not to choose between parties but make a choice between Anwar or him..then debate la Najib Razak..make it easier for us to decide right?

Apparently MCA has handed over the Kuantan (Pahang), Wangsa Maju (Kuala Lumpur), Gelang Patah (Johor) parliamentary seats to Umno. It has also made way for PPP in the Kota Laksamana (Malacca) state seat, and for MIC in the Tronoh (Perak) state seat..
So Datuk Seri Dr. Chua Soi Lek how do you propose to look after the Chinese interest may I ask..

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

While we have no problems with the BN trying to incorporate our ideas into their own manifesto, it is laughable to see that even this copying is half-hearted, like many of the so-called transformation initiatives of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

The BN promises to reduce car prices by 20%-30% but stays absolutely silent on the unfair and opaque system of Approved Permits (AP) allocations that have been given to many BN cronies.

The BN promises to expand the Rapid Bus System to every state but does not allow the state governments or the local authorities to provide their own bus services.
