A “private party” has mooted the idea of starting a new national car project to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad but the government has not seen a proposal yet, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said in an interview with a Singapore-based TV station.

Lim said the proposed project, announced by Mahathir in Tokyo on Monday, if financed by private parties using their own money, “is something that would be worthwhile looking at”.
In his interview with Channel NewsAsia’s Conversation With, Lim said he discussed the proposed new project with Mahathir when the latter returned from his working visit to Japan.

“I told the prime minister that we don’t have the money, and he knows it … So it is not from public funds, it’s not like Proton, no,” he told the broadcaster.

“If there are private parties who want to do it in Malaysia using their own money, I think that is something that would be worthwhile looking at – but not from public funds.”

As I said many a time my reason for buying the share is that I believe Jaks has very good profit growth prospect especially when the power plant is completed. Jaks will receive more than Rm 100 net profit every year for 25 years.

This is the reason why the directors and the controlling shareholders bought so many shares. Jaks had placed out twice 10% of the total issued shares plus their original holdings of more than 30% to be able to control the company. I believe they have more than 50% of the total issued shares. They have bought so many shares because they believe the company has a fantastic profit growth prospect.
