Sarawak has one of the country’s highest vaccination rates, with 87.9% of its adult population already fully vaccinated.

In the past few days, Sarawak had continued to record the highest number of daily cases out of all states - mostly in the 3,000s.

However, 99% of its daily cases are mild and asymptomatic cases - with only a small number of severe cases.

Khairy said the situation in Sarawak could happen in the rest of the country, if it is proven that there is a waning effect of vaccines.

Kerajaan Indonesia dilaporkan sudah melonggarkan sekatan berhubung Covid-19 di Pulau Jawa dan Bali.

Menteri Kanan, Luhut Pandjaitan berkata, Indonesia yang pernah menjadi pusat penularan Covid-19 Asia, merekodkan hampir 4.2 juta jumlah kes jangkitan dan lebih 140,000 kematian.

Katanya, kes baharu menunjukkan penurunan 98 peratus berbanding kemuncak kes pada Julai.

Kadar peratusan ujian positif di bawah empat peratus pada bulan ini iaitu di bawah paras 5 peratus disyorkan Pertubuhan Kesi0hatan Sedunia (WHO) bagi menentukan wabak terkawal.

Namun, beliau berkata peraturan kuarantin terutama di pintu masuk negara akan diperketatkan kerana masih ada risiko gelombang jangkitan baharu.

"Salah satu risikonya ialah dari luar negara kerana kes di negara jiran kita masih tinggi.

"Kita tidak mahu mengurangkan kawalan kita terhadap varian baharu," katanya dalam taklimat media secara maya.

Minggu lalu, Luhut dilaporkan berkata, kerajaan mungkin mempertimbangkan kebenaran pelancong asing melawat Bali mulai Oktober ini.
