Western Digital (NASDAQ:WDC) is scheduled to announce its fiscal fourth quarter 2017 earnings on July 27. At the end of the quarter ended March, Western Digital gave positive guidance for the fiscal fourth quarter with the addition of SanDisk expected to boost revenues for the hard drive manufacturer. In addition, gross margins are expected to continue to rise significantly, as SanDisk’s flash product portfolio has higher gross margins than Western Digital’s core hard drive products.

One off gain in the last quarter will be still in the calulation of P/E when the next QR is released, so even if the next QR is not so good, its PE ratio will not increase tremendously.

We expect sales to continue to remain firm in 2017 as our major product is driven by the growth in high-capacity nearline HDDs as well as stabilization of client storage demand. NAND flash memory is likely to face supply constraint throughout 2017 due to the strong growth in demand for smart phones and other mobile devices, and therefore may also affect SSD supply.

The long-term future of HDDs are likely rests with high apaity HDDs, partiularly in data centers serving cloud storage applications. The demand for high capacity storage drives, enhanced performance, and lower storage cost is set to rise. Global internet penetration, the rise in e-commerce in the emerging markets, and the current trend for high-resolution media standards are the likely drivers for continuing rise in global storage demand.

Nevertheless, the Group will continue to improve its operational efficiency and keep a tight rein on costs to ensure price competitiveness on its products. The Group is also working closely with existing and new customers in creating value to their supply chain, and will continue to seek opportunity to venture into new business segments that can synergizes with the Group's current business model. RHB Retail Research said Dufu Technology Corp Bhd’s buying momentum may have returned after the stock breached above the downtrend line drawn in the chart.

In a trading stocks note today, the research house said given that it has formed a white candle for the second consecutive day, the positive sentiment has been enhanced.

“A bullish bias may appear above the RM1.37 level, with an exit set below the RM1.29 threshold.

“Towards the upside, the immediate resistance level is seen at RM1.57. This is followed by the RM1.65 level,” it said.

Jacobs Engg. To Be Appointed Trackwork Design Consultant For Malaysian Rail

The Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Sungai Buloh-Serdang-Putrajaya Line, the second mass rapid transit line to be developed, has an estimated construction cost of approximately $7.6 billion.

Jacobs said it will work with the China Communications and Construction Co. and George Kent Joint Venture, which was awarded the approximately $234 million contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of track work, maintenance vehicles and work trains.
