Thanks for the compliments, Icon.

I do have a GLC counter, Maybank bought in 2009 below rm 4.00. Holding to it due to its generous dividend, DY 17 of my initial investment.

And Century Logistic and Kheesan.
But I will not touch FGV with a pole, even at rm 1.00 with its present management.

I like to buy laggards with potential and purchase them when no one wants them.

PHD holder invest in FGV talk about eps? What is the eps of FGV? 0.02 sen ? You have masters and PHD but invest like a donkey.

Small cap companies with big profit compared to your FGV with rubbish profit, not even 1 sen profit and you come give lecture here.

Wonder where and how you got your Masters and PHD. You better go stick to your FGV thread and leave the furniture investors alone.

End of day I make 6 figure profits while you wait for companies with eps rm 2. Why then did you buy FGV with eps of 0.02 sen?

Go read rich dad poor dad. You academicians are the worst investors. BTW I don't have a doctorate but only 30 plus years investing.

Lim, you have not answered my questions posted and continue to be arm chair investor.
Banking shares like AFG and CIMB, do you know what is their present and future eps?
Warren Buffet nvest in companies with eps of at least $2? How many companies in Malaysia earns eps of rm2? One? None? And what is the price of shares with eps of $2?
Net profit of 75 Mil strong company? If you have paid up capital like FGV, is that strong? Latitude has less than 100 Mil shares compared to 5 Bil shares in FGV.
Earning comparisons are made on similar Qs, not consecutive Qs. So it 2nd Q this year against last year to reflect a clearer and fairer picture of its business.
US currency appreciation is bad for importing companies, not net exporting companies.

Many of the concerns raised here by readers are valid. Latitude is considered a small cap and illiquid counter and it does not take much trading of its shares for the price to move either way.
Could the meteoric rise in price partly a result of Mr Koon's accumulation of shares until he became a major shareholder? High probability. Will the price collapse should he decide to dispose entirely? Very high possibility.
I bought in long time ago and waiting for the right time to realise my profits. Hopefully before Mr Koon starts to dispose his shares.

You need to learn more about call warrants before risking so much on it. Premium and date of expiry are the 2 most important factors you need to consider.

Didn't expect my remark years ago to be highlighted in your write up. LOL. I have nothing to be too happy about this counter as it's mediocre at best. FYI, I bought Latitude too at 74 and 75 sen back in Oct 2011. Also 20,000 shares and still holding and pretty happy about it. And Panasonic at 9.30 maybe 15 years ago. But my golden egg is Maybank bought in Apr 09 at below rm4 and collecting 5 figure dividend per 6 month. To me, that's investing.

However, should CIMB merge with RHB, MBSB, CIMB has become a new entity, thus, required to comply with the 40% rule.

line, who wants a big chunk of MBSB? You should remember less than a year ago when EPF started selling down its holding, MBSB was dropping like stone.

Stock

2014-10-24 07:25 | Report Abuse

Can MBSB go on its own, ie without the merger? Of course it can but will it be able to fetch 2.82?
With the household debt at 86.8% at end of last year, there are not many who qualify for loans anymore. More worrying is the NPL and non collateral loans taken in by MBSB.
And now CIMB may have to carry the baby.

Stock

2014-10-24 07:15 | Report Abuse

bmwm5, please get your facts right. There are no 3 banks, only 2. MBSB is a building society set up to build houses and provide housing loans. They have 'expanded' their business and gone into personal loans while not adhering to BNM guidelines. EPF is only a major shareholder of MBSB and has no control of how MBSB runs its business. EPF wants to dispose of its share in MBSB and the 2.82 is put up to keep shareholders happy. Its not their money to spend, so why not?
Looking at the price of CIMB and RHB today, it is obvious both the bank's shareholders are unimpressed with the deal.

Stock

2014-10-23 18:30 | Report Abuse

Its a fair comment by gohlai. Anyone here willing to pay 2.82 when one can buy at 2.56 in the open market?

Stock

2014-10-23 17:28 | Report Abuse

While I don't see MBSB dropping to 2.2x in the near future, neither do I see the Arab boys wanting MBSB at price anywhere near 3.00. Ever since BNM came out with strict guidelines on personal loans, EPF have been trying to get rid of its huge shareholdings of MBSB.
RHB has gone through the books of MBSB and has no appetite to take up MBSB as MBSB is far from ready or qualified to be a full fledged bank. CIMB is dying to be the biggest bank, so EPF is willing to divest its RHB block provided CIMB takes up its (EPF) MBSB shares.
It could be many more months before anything definite will materialise, in the meantime, those who had hoped for a quick killing will have their money stuck for at least another year.

Stock

2014-10-23 13:14 | Report Abuse

There is more uncertainties now with regards to the deal. A 3rd party has to buy over EPF's stake of CIMB at RM 7.27 a share, the block will cost RM 8.8 Bil. With CIMB presently at 6.30 plus, which party would be interested?
Not forgetting the 3rd party has to pay RM10 plus for the RHB shares and RM 2.82 for MBSB, when both counters have not reached that price at all.
The merger may go through, but will MBSB shareholders be offered the same price of 2.82 or possibly lower?
That is the question.

To me small paid up capital has little bearing on a company I want to invest in. Panasonic has 60 M shares but is priced above RM20 with eps of more than RM 1.20. Nova has 400 M shares but is at 7 sen and makes rm 5K per Q. MAS has billions of shares and is losing its pants.
The company's revenue and its ability to generate profit from its business is more relevant than its paid up capital.

telecaster, all CWs are issued at 15 sen at start with a premium of about 15% above the share price at the date of issue. Any cw above 15sen is deemed be to a loss to the IB. Whereas, if during cash settlement period ie on expiry of cw, the price of mother share is below the ex price, the IB does not pay out anything.
Cash settlement is calculated based on average CLOSING price 5 consecutive days prior to expiry. It is very common to find mother shares dropping at 4.40pm and lowest at 4.50pm for those 5 days.
Take note that all counters issued with cw may be shorted, therefore the counter maybe shorted by the IBs. I notice they will issue some reports about how bad the company is doing, sometimes before, sometimes after the expiry of cw. Before is to bring down price of mother, thus the cw; after, I believe is to cover the short at a lower price.
Having said all that, it is a challenge and very rewarding should you strike a gem of a cw. I bought TM CZ for 13 sen end of Feb and sold it off at 40 sen 10 days ago. 200% profit is no peanuts.
As this is a Petdag thread, I will erase this comments tomorrow.

CIMB is the issuer of Petdag call warrants. They seem to be coming out with negative reports on counters they have interest in. Having said that, EPF was the biggest net seller of Petdag before the price stabilised at RM 23. Such volatility is good for cw players.

RM 26 maybe the magical number to look for, as the reported earning does not justify a RM 30 price tag for Petdag until the next Q report.

My 2 sen opinion.

Airo, I will not touch any of the Petdag call warrants now as the price was fixed when earnings were good and price of Petdag at a high. I don't expect Petdag to be anywhere near 26.50 by end Sep, therefore making CI worthless. There are many other call warrants worth considering.
I am all for call warrants, and obviously anyone will make more $ from warrants than mother when price is up.
sookfun, take the time to learn about call warrants first before going in or you may be burnt badly. On the other hand you can make huge profits if you pick the right cw.

Stock

2014-05-23 17:42 | Report Abuse

sookfun, this is not warrant but call warrant. High risk, high reward. Don't want to repeat here, read my post on 21 May on calculation for CI and CJ.
When the warrant expires and it is out of the money, then your money is burnt. Eg, if Petdag is below 26.50 (exercise price) last 5 market days end of Sep, then CI pays nothing. If Petdag is below 30.00 by end Jan 15, same applies. So it is up to you, if you think Petdag will rebound strongly, it is worth a try. But be prepared to lose everything if IB continues to depress the price prior to expiry.
