Sean, the 2Q results will be good. Its the 3Q onwards results that you should be worried about as the BNM ruling came into force on 5 Jul.

I do not side anybody, Nicole or anyone. I study the charts and:
You are a load of rubbish so called Dr. There was a 100% profit between Oct 2011 and Jan 2012, go look at the chart. Just because you bought in at the wrong time and didn't make money, it does not mean others are in the same boat like you.
No matter how you twist it, charts don't lie. Yes those price are readjusted after the bonus issue. And there was an almost 100% uptrend prior to 1:1 bonus. Looks like you bought in just before the bonus when the price was reaching its peak of 4.50.
Had the chart been flat like the last 15 months, then there is no argument. However, this counter experienced lots of volatility from Jan 09 to May 12 where prices swung more than 100% up or 50% down.
All the noise just because of 1000 shares worth 4,100? Damn cheapo Dr.

Interesting comments from Nicole, DrP and cheesebrg.
From records there were 2 bonus issues. First was a 1 for 4 bonus in Jun 2010 when the price spiked to 3.25 from a low of 40 sen 15 months earlier. Second was a 1 for 1 in Jan 2012 when the price went to 2.35 from a low of 1.18 three months earlier. Any clarification on the bonus, anyone?
From the comments and charts, both Dr P and Nicole are both right. Dr P bought in after the 2010 bonus at 4.10, probably in 2011 and experienced a huge drop. The 1 for 1 bonus brought the price back to his buying price. Nicole on the other hand may have bought in 8 months after Dr P at 2.40 (prior to bonus during the huge drop) and therefore made a 100% including dividends.
What is sad is somebody had been keeping quiet for years when holding the shares and suddenly coming out to attack the counter after selling off last week. All because of 1000 shares? I thought it was 100,000 shares.

Bitter man and a sore loser?

Again, I do not hold any shares in this company.

Yes sep, the DY is halved, time to move on.
B79, that's what undervalued shares can do for you. 8% to 10% DY and later sell at 100% profit.

Dividend of 1.2 plus 1.2 is nothing to shout about. EPS of 10 sen, depending on what PE one attaches to the counter, its price is anything between 90 sen to 1.20. Don't forget its price have risen 100% in 12 months and those just in may be holding the baby.

Put option, you betting the price will be below the strike price, ie the share price will drop.

Interesting remark and reminder. Yes, it failed to penetrate 2.20twice. Its record high in recent years is 3.20 plus back in Oct 2010, thus saying it has not pass 2.20 will also be misleading.

From the business POV, this company is not lacking in anyway, thus the positive evaluation by most investment houses. However, with the boss openly supporting the opposition, it is perceived that conditions will be less favourable for him to do business.

After Mr Startrek sold off his shares at 2.15, he predicted it will drop to 1.90 but it retracted 2 sen to 2.13. Yes, it may come down to below 1.90,only if the 2Q result is not good or people start exiting the counter in doves. But I believe those who wanted out have done so.

BTW I don't hold any supermax shares. If it drops to below 1.90, I might pick up some.

Legally the statement is correct. Even though OJK continues to give extension, the latest extension approved this month is until end of 2013.
MBB will then have to appeal again to have it extended another 6 months which of course OJK will grant based on the same grounds.

Abundance, totally agree that epf holds 60% of mbsb. It also holds lots of MAS. So just because epf holds certain counter, it does not mean can do no wrong. Result to be announced late Aug will show good profit. The present ruling affects 3Q results, with negative growth expected.
kinghu, many civil servants will have their pay cut through Angkasa. That's the requirement by mbsb and some other banks. However, borrowers have lots of tricks up their sleeve, most drastic is pack up and balik kampong. Please bear in mind pay deduction for loans is by priority, govt loans first, and the balance to private loans. The Armed Forces have disallowed Angkasa to deduct pay for payment to discourage the men from over borrowing which could lead to corruption.
mbsb will not be pn17, but its huge profit from easy loans will be drastically reduced.
mbsb was set up to provide housing loans, not personal loans. BNM is bringing it back to its original core business. If it wants to provide financial loan, get a bank license and toe the line. If left unchecked, our financial system can and will collapse due to high NPLs by civil servants.

Stock

I know there are many die hard and hardcore fans of MBSB but do not fall in love with any counter. When regulations change, one needs to be objective in re evaluate the situation. Just to list 2 factors to consider.
1. MBSB has to follow the 60% pay cut for loans. Commercial banks are required to practice responsible banking by ensuring borrower's overall salary deduction does not exceed 60% of their pay. MBSB had been lending to civil servants who after deduction for house, car and personal loan, take home no more than 10% of pay.
2. NPL of MBSB is calculated differently from commercial banks. Normal standard is 3 months of non payment will classify the loan as NPL. MBSB practices 6 months non payment as NPL. With the re alignment of 3 months across the board, NPL will climb for MBSB.
Bear in mind many loans taken by civil servants are enormous and without collateral or guarantors. 5 years ago, NPL for MBSB was at 19% and its shares was hovering around rm1.
Borrowers who cannot afford to pay anymore, just go AWOL. No point working when 90% of their pay goes to repayment of loans.
I can go on and on, but do ponder why the shadow banks are put under more scrutiny.
