Govt targets 40% digitalisation of end-to-end service delivery by year end
PUTRAJAYA (Dec 7): The government is targetting 40% digitalisation of the end-to-end (E2E) service delivery by the end of this year compared to 20.2% in 2019, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
He said the digitalisation process will continue to be intensified with focus also to be given to the development of the digital economy to boost the country’s economic growth post Covid-19.
“In facing the economic impact of the global Covid-19 pandemic, the government has taken an inclusive and comprehensive approach in a bid to ensure the economic survival and the well-being of the people.
This includes efforts to empower the digitalisation agenda which is included in one of the strategic thrusts of the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030,” he said in his speech at the launch of Malaysia Biz portal streamed via MAMPU Facebook page today.
The MalaysiaBiz portal functions as a one-stop centre to facilitate online registration of business and application of licence efficiently.
Muhyiddin said the target of the digitalisation process was also strengthened by the setting up of the National Digital Economy and Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) Council, which he chairs, to ensure sustainable digital economic development for the benefit of all in line with the 4IR technology potentials in the country.

Jan 1, 2020, the government fixed the date of implementation of mandatory MSPO certification. In line with the mandatory implementation, all parties in the palm oil industry including smallholders, must implement MSPO certification at their premises.

MPOB will issue a compound followed by licence suspension or termination for operators of estates and palm oil mills who have not yet commenced the process of MSPO certification on Jan 1, 2021.

MSPO certification enforcement for smallholders would begin on July 1, 2020, based on several considerations including the commitment of private smallholders to MSPO certification implementation, with the number registered for MSPO certification in the sustainable palm oil clusters (SPOCs) still low

Due to the low rate of implementation of MSPO certification among smallholders especially independent smallholders, MPOB extended the MSPO mandatory enforcement period for smallholders by six months until June 30, 2020

May 31, 2020, the percentage of smallholders with MSPO certification was 24.82% for independent smallholders with an area of 243,666 hectares, and 99.07% for 231,576 organised smallholders with 670,010 hectares

The increase follows warning letters issued to 100 palm oil mills on Jan 28, 2020. Warning letters were also issued to estate owners who had yet to begin the process of MSPO certification on Feb 12, 2020

Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) director-general Dr Ahmad Parveez Ghulam Kadir said in addition to this, 400 palm oil mills or 88.50% had obtained the MSPO certification on June 30, 2020, compared with 340 palm oil mills or 75.2% on Dec 31, 2019

Selling online is not only against the regulations, but it has thwarted the government's intention to restrict the availability of tobacco products, especially among the youth under 18

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in a statement today said monitoring and investigation by the Health Ministry found that the company had been selling various brands of tobacco products online for as low as RM20.

The court imposed the fine on Redframe Management & Resources, on July 1 (2020), or a one year jail term for the owner of the company.

A company was fined RM2,500 at the Magistrates’ Court here for selling tobacco products online in violation of Rule 10A (1) of the Control of Tobacco Products Regulations 2004.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said to date, five states, namely Melaka, Perak, Penang, Kedah and Johor, would enjoy the high-speed broadband services by the first quarter of next year.

The implementation of NFCP, which combines the use of optical fiber and wireless connectivity, is aiming towards achieving a 98% broadband coverage in residential areas by 2023, with a minimum bandwidth speed of 30Mbps.

For the record, so far there are four retail internet service providers, namely Digi, Astro, Maxis and City Broadband, offering broadband bundled service packages; and through the offerings, houses in the areas involved with the NFCP project would enjoy high speed broadband service from 30Mbps to 1Gbps.

TNB's wholly-owned unit Allo Technology Sdn Bhd in a statement, informed that the open access services network for the NFCP project was being expanded gradually to urban and rural areas in Malacca especially in areas with limited fiber optic infrastructure such as Alor Gajah, Malim Jaya and extended to additional area involving 15,000 homes in Jasin.

He said, to date, the NFCP pilot project in Melaka encompassed 1,100 homes in three areas, namely Felda Kemendor, Taman Merbau Perdana and Taman Maju in Jasin district.
