only a small amount sold, as well as small total amount held by this Ms Lee HL and her Ecoblooms Sdn Bhd, so I personally don't think the disposal by this director of the company is significant at all !

guys, please don't get me wrong ! just a marker meant for leslieroycarter & ryei to go take a look the the chart and you will see that it is true that barely one year ago i.e last 18 December 2012, with NTA standing at same RM5.23 Keck Seng it was traded at a paltry RM3.83 low only ! I would say that in stock market, never say never ! I agree with prudentinvestor; and right now it seems unlikely. However, if it does, then it means the "whole house" comes crashing down,huge market crash worldwide, not just our puny Bursa market ! no difference then - because all stocks etc also "mati" leow !

@thteh, wah you still talking about this - it is gone already. Many other forumers have explained why these "major shareholders", these "businessmen" are so smart (not so silly) that's why they rather forgo the 300m you mentioned to IRA than declare dividends for shareholders ! tsk tsk tsk - no more hope already for small shareholders as today is 30 Dec 13, left one more day and it all expires tomorrow.

@ gark, the last day of trdong MBSB-OR is indeed this Friday 3rd Jan 2014. I just relooked at the Abridged Prospectus dated 26 Dec 2013 and it says "Last date and time for the Sale of Provisional Allotment of Rights Shares is Friday, 3 January 2014 at 5.00 p.m."

@lmseng, don't mind I point out that this 4.5 sens "instantly" is no guarantee one ! Where "they" got so good to let you untung 4.5 sens so easily ! The reason is of course that once you buy the MBSB-OR at 0.525 you are "locked" got no chance to escape as the last trading day for the OR is on Mon 3rd Jan 2014. It is all well and good if the mother share MBSB can maintain at 2.22 or higher after 3 Jan 2014 - but what if ??? after this the mother share MBSB keeps dropping to below 2.17 ? You cannot say don't pay the RM1.65 and forget it - otherwise your purchased MBSB-OR becomes null and void ! In short,in worse case you stand to lose 52.5 sens for an uncertain gain of 4.5 sens.

@THW5594, interesting observation ! Why no one is doing it ? Because you can't "lock in" the so obvious arbitrage prices ! I don't know why else other than if it is too good to be true, it ain't true ? The market is not static, maybe by the time you are sufficiently lured in to bet it big (say add a few zeros to your buy, the market price of YTLP might mysteriously move downwards and might even collapse ! Just a reminder, a lot a shit-load lot of these YTL-WB holders got it at 10 sens only in June 2008 ! Our EPF not so bodoh lah, they are very smart people running our pension fund !

And, today's "awesome climb back" is due to "good news" Fed's no tapering at all ! This good news completely overwhelm the fear of casino tax today - largely forgotten by the market !

@ktsk88, re the price adjustment for Special Dividend, I think answer is "No" i.e it is a rule of thumb that "market expectation" is for the price to adjust after ex-d at the Opening Price for the amount paid out. Take the case of Kulim, which adjusted "in line with market expectation" to reflect the Special Dividend 90.94 Sens ex-d on 9 Jan 2013. I am not familiar with Tan Chong, but it just mean that the market is discounting completely the 18 sens SD paid out and even partially discount the 12 sens normal dividend and chose to open at Opening Price of 6.03 this morning (it adjusted only by 6 Sens !). As for Genting's 50 Sens, my expectation is that it should adjust accordingly on the ex-d Opening Price but whether it will or it will not, is left to be seen i.e for the market participants to decide at the point in time.

If after ex-d, price can still hover around RM 9.5 to 10.00 it means an expectation of this current run up on a cum-all basis to between RM 10.00 to 10.50. Looks to me you are quite right as it's just a whisker away from RM 10.00 !

@ktsk88, looking at the spike up in price, yes I agree with you that "somehow" this whole exercise will turn out very nicely for Genting shareholders. I am just as happy with these 2 days spike in price not just for Genting Bhd but also Genting S'pore; in fact broader market all mostly up and hunkydory after the recent fear and gloom !

@ktsk88, no "bombardments" intended but I still feel that this "50 sens (Less Tax) special dividend + restricted warrants 1 for 4 at RM1.50 (5 years tenure with conversion exercise priced at RM7.96 per share" is no more than a charade; not to be applauded by us minority shareholders. For me usually, a company that sincerely wants to reward shareholders will declare a simple "No Frills" special dividend. A good example is Kulim's recent 90.94 sens (Single tier) Special Dividend per share which ex-d on 9 Jan 2013. I own some Kulim as well as Genting shares. Just for illustration, assuming you own 16,000 shares of Genting Bhd (valued at RM 9.46 each = worth RM 151,360) and this exercise is completed and you :

a) "received" your special dividend of 50 sens per share
less tax @25% = nett RM 6,000;
b) utilised the RM 6,000 proceeds to subscribe for the 4,000 units warrant;
c) still have the 16,000 Genting shares which now trading "ex-all" and valued at RM 8.96 each only.

Theoretically, after "ex-all" the mother share will adjust by 50 sens each to trade at RM 8.96 and hence the Warrant will be valued at only RM 1.00 each.

Nett nett, you are worse off (theoretically) as your 16,000 Genting shares plus 4,000 Warrants are now worth only (16,000 x RM 8.96 + 4,000 x RM 1.00 = RM 147,360 only). In short, you have "lost" RM 4,000 ! I presume, just like me, you also cannot claim back the tax.

As for each of your reasons for your optimism :

1) after "ex-all" assuming the "reference" price RM9.46 can hold, arithmetically it should trade at no more than RM 8.96;
2) US operations are still dicey, at best;
3) share buybacks will not guarantee support for the price - a good example is YTLPower (which I happen to also own some shares)
4) Genting Singapore, ah my "baby" - yes, if indeed they can stick one leg into the Japanese - but why not buy Genting Singapore directly ? It's cheaper on a per share basis and it's the real McCoy !

Obviously, I am not as optimistic as you are on Genting's shares cum all. Also, my "horrendous" thinking that the Warrant might even trade underwater at a loss below RM 1.50 seems like "pouring cold water". Above all else, I am still skeptical of Genting's implied "generosity" this time to its shareholders as it is rather "unusual". For minority shareholders, it's useful for us to discuss/ponder over before deciding what to do next.....

YTLP continued sharebuy back is good and will support the price; but see EPF transactions also blur what they are trying to do : the last 3 transaction macham playing the fool - buy 1,268,500, followed by sell 4,000,000, followed by sell 1,268,500 ! @ktsk and kinghu, must say I tend to agree with you guys especially regarding your "suspicions". For as long as I can remember, Genting has been very stingy with its DPS year in, year out ! This 50 sens LT special dividend is thus best viewed with the skeptism that you rightly allude to ! I feel it is not just a case of giving you the "50 sens LT" with the left hand and taking it back by means of the "1 for 4 @ RM1.50 warrant" exercise with the right hand - worse, it is a roundabout way of asking shareholders for their money if and when you subscribe for new sahres at RM 7.96 i.e assuming all is said and done, Genting would have collected almost RM 1 billion from sharholders by means of this roundabout exercise. Not a cheerful thought at all !

Generally speaking, market does not favour uncertainty. And YTLP has too many uncertainties at the moment which does not augur well for its share price in the near term. That's why all the analysts are unanimous in their "HOLD" recommendation. One of my pet peeve is the recent unrelentless sale by EPF - I still believe they know what they are doing - EPF is no fool, they are there to invest and make decent returns for our retirement funds.

I don't think CIMB's target price RM2.55 is realistic; unlikely in my opinion. In fact of all the target prices stated above only CIMB's is way off the mark - in short if we were to plot a graph of all the analysts' target prices, CIMB's can be considered a definitive outlier and should be ignored for our guidance purposes. I would think the average RM1.77 is a good value guide, though I'm not too optimistic watching the price action last week.

Don't blindly be taken in by talks of privatisation; distribution of T-shares etc, believe only what you can see. @DrPitchard, thanks ! I was just wondering about the share buyback thingy : If we use the 5 months period you mentioned, and say YTLP has bot back 183m shares but during this period our EPF had sold 122 m shares. Is there something our EPF knows that we don't ? Can you imagine how our foolish it is for our retirement-funds guardian EPF to be selling away such a large quantity when there's an impending privatization ..... it does not make sense to me !
(As of 14 Jan 2013 EPF held 650,543,666
As of 15 Jul 2013 EPF held 527,583,916
Hence, our EPF sold 122,959,750)
Regarding its "cash rich", I've heard this often repeated a number of times by other forumers to but a quick check showed that though they have app RM 10b in cash (30 Sep 13), their debt level is RM 22 b (as of Jun 2012)- I don't know about you guys, but I only classify a company as cash rich when it has cash and no debt !
