the real threat to Airasia is the demand, the fuel cost, not Malindo. If you look at travel fair last month and they are making recorded sales in asia despite of economy slow down. It is not yet a zero sum game but the pie is growing bigger..

i wonder how much profit can someone make with 20 lots in 1.08 and 30 lots in 1.05 and sell all 50 lots in 1.08. Buy and sell the same price will gain nothing but losing the broker charge about $360.
Buy at 1.05 and sell at 1.08 only makes a profit of $368.

All airline hedge fuel cost. They do not follow today market fuel price as this been locked in few months ago. Price drop in petrol market may not benefit the airline as they may have stuck to pay higher rate that they have locked in, if they thought the cost of fuel is going to raise but in fact is not.
