rchi, my view is confined only to interest rate scenario, do not rule out any other geopolitical factors e.g., another disaster like 911 etc...

hi I missed the interesting discussion on Fed's imminent tightening policy & wish to add my view:
1) 10-yr Treasury rate rising to 3% or beyond is not an alarming factor to the market as long as it is matched by meaningful growth in the economy. The US equity market was robust at one time even when interest rate exceeded 5%. Also if the pace of rate increase toward 3% is well-planned & executed to avoid abrupt disruptions in the financial markets, the adjustment process can preempt any catastrophe
2) Whether the Fed Chairman is Janet Yellen or someone else, I believe they already have an established method of easing the markets into any policy changes as proven in the past years whereby most Fed decisions have more or less been discounted by the markets in advance. So I share Spidee's view that there's no doubt about Fed's ability in smoothly managing financial markets especially with the backdrop of strengthening US economy.
3) Any inching up of the 10-year rate may cause some mild knee-jerk reaction in the equity market in US thus causing a drop of few % but this will no doubt be opportunity for the buy- on -dips investors thus cushioning any sharp drop in market.

Exactly sikung119, there are many ways to skin a cat, as long as one emerges a winner, there is no right or wrong way. Just that I am not a good trader, so prefer to just stick to a target price. I find it so difficult to sell a stock hoping to buy back cheaper.. But I am good at other things that Gorgeous know… hahaha
