Not too far off the mark...

38 regular buy orders, whether including odd lots or not(prob only a handful)

Fortunately, I did take some short-term gains eg selling 1/7 @ 7.43 in Feb 2019 & numerous contra gains that pay me 'interest' to hold for 10 years if necessary.

Last wk, I finally got down to the tedious task of accounting for all the cash I spent on this counter.

There were 38 buy orders dating back to Oct 2018.

Everybody's holdings are small relative to Lim Kok Tahi's stake...it's all relative.

SOLD 38% of my remaining CYL @ 82.5-83.5c

@ DestinyL There are a lot of big liars...not just in Genting thread but many others...I guess they have nothing better 2 do, or are serving the sindikets' agenda( AT, Technax, DNEX etc etc )

Most I don't take seriously coz there's no proof they bought at those prices, just baseless claims.

Of course, I buy odd lots! If it lowers my average buy price for the day why not?

Thank God for my Nomura! Up another 2% today after breaching ¥700 in defiance of the Nikkei's 617 point DROP yesterday...Makes up for the disappointment in Lim Kok Tahi's Genting =)

Crude price plunging...Asian mkts plunging...but MHB still green =)

Bought PAOS...recommended to enhanced subscriber clients last week.

I hope Genting moves like Nomura, now trading another 1% higher 13 mins into the open, breaching the ¥ 700 mark for the first time since Jan '18 & up ¥ 109 on my entry price =)

Coincidentally, they both have roughly the same no. of outstanding shares....3.8 billion tickets

For sure, after a rise of 80% in just 5 mths, many ppl are shorting, convinced that it's gone up 'too far'....just like many Japanese online are saying they're shorting the Nikkei even before it reached 30,000 because it's illogical that the index is so disconnected from the economy which is still very bad.

Problem is : The markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent.

Comparing the two, Genting still has a FY EPS of -26.6c & has not recovered from the craziness of 2020, though trading at a 35.4% discount to NTA while Nomura has a 9m EPS of ¥101 & trading at a 23.5% discount to NTA of ¥913 while optimistic abt its prospects for FY '21.

I was actually so optimistic about brokerages in Japan that I bought not just one but THREE brokerage stocks there...the others being Okasan & Maruhachi. Over here, I sold my Kenanga shares a little early @ 1.46 & am awaiting the payment for my TA shares, but I have gd reasons to believe my Japan brokerage shares will perform admirably at least until August =)

Nomura was worth $90 bil at its peak in 1987 when it was the largest brokerage in the world & the most profitable company in Japan ahead of Toyota.

When I first bought my first shares as the Nikkei was just past its Jan '18 high by 2 weeks, the company mkt cap was $23 bil & I believed the Nikkei could reach 27,600 points. However I was wrong & the Nikkei drifted down & in Sep I bought a larger qty with the market cap at $18.6 bil. After a brief revival, the Nikkei dropped further & eventually the stock bottomed in June '19 with a market cap of under $12 bil.

Even with the current mkt cap of $24 bil, it's still a minnow compared to $500-1000bil giants in the US. That's why I consider it cheap & only when it's much smaller than its competitors is the upside for the share price attractive.

Similiarly, when I averaged down Genting in late 2018, it looked undervalued in the then old normal. But when the Kok Tahi shennanigans with RW Catskills began, it began to consistently underperform GenM as I suspect even longtime funds & holders exited in droves, realising that this family would stoop to raiding the company cash to save their own skins!

However, I was already 'stuck' 48 lots & so the only thing I could do was average down, which I did in late 2019 @ 5.63-5.96 & Feb-Mar '20 @ 4.55-5.37, then a little @ 3.22 in Apr, more from 3.56-4.42 from Jun-Sep...now I am 'stuck' with 105.97 lots, a little cheesed that the less solid GenM shares are already ABOVE their post-Catskills levels while this dog is still somewhat stuck in the mud comparatively.

Nonetheless, I am happy with the continuation of the respectible dividends & when the stock shoots past the fairly valued level in my private calculations, that's when I will exit, which I'm guessing will happen within 2 years.

When I get out from Genting with a nice fat gain, I'm moving most of it to the land of the Nikkei...the uptrend there is much clearer than KLCI.

Gent's buyback of 26 mil shares averaged $8.40! Even the horses' mouth got it way wrong lol

Altho Gent is my most challenging stock(based on the sheer amts I invested), another challenging stock, this time in Japan is now 16% above the price I bought too early in Feb & Sep 2018( it dropped to as low as -45% in June '19).

Same strategy as here: keep averaging down & let the good dividends pay me to wait it out!

The stock's name is NOMURA ! =)

That's why I don't reply to bug gers like that =D

I'm sure many ppl followed them & loaded up in the low sixes...At least I don't have such a huge hurdle to climb as these ppl, thanks to a little averaging down in Mar, June & Sep '20 that ballooned my holdings 5-fold but reduced my cost by 14% =)

Just 2 yrs ago, it hit a high of 7.62

Historically, Gent traded @ double the price of Genm so I'm gonna ignore the short-term fluctuations until it hits at least 6+...meanwhile, let the regular dividends pay me to wait.......

My paper loss reduced from a peak of $29,141 on 3rd Nov '20 to $2,331 now...astounding!

Whooshhhhh! Last min push to 2.48 close! =)

I sold the 5 lots I bought mistakenly @ 1.16 just before the coronacrash...told myself I refuse 2 lose & mid-morning yesterday, I threw 3 lots @ 1.24 & within minutes, aggressive buying pushed the bid/ask to 1.26/1.27 & I threw the other 2 lots @ 1.26...

Very relieved now!

All the stu pid funds like GIC,EPF, PNB already gave up & sold...smart fund like Norges quietly bought up 13 mil shares =)

Short-term gamblers only make peanuts...smarter speculators sit & ride it all the wayyyyy UPPPPP =D

It has been a challenge 2 wait for so long for the price to rise back again...so challenging that even Valuecap, EPF, GIC, Public Mutual, Eastspring, US funds & LTH gave up...fortunately, I have traded short-term in '13-'15 & received dividends, together totalling nearly $5k so I hv been paid 2 wait.

Bought 22k shrs for the dividend in early 2018 @ 85c...but was very lucky 2 have sold it all LIFO in 2019 for 87c avg. I had to buy it back for a 41c avg in Nov- Dec last yr to average down coz I hv some old shares bought as high as 2.17!

Welcome 2 M'sia boleh! I'm not one of those insiders though...if I knew, I would have bought far more than what I bought last year...
