FGV does not actually 'own' the lands

"For instance, FGV, via a land lease agreement (LLA) with FELDA, controls and operates 350,733ha of plantations owned by FELDA, for a 99-year tenure starting from Nov 1, 2011. FGV on its own has 88,497ha of plantation land and 68 palm oil mills, parked under FGV Palm Industries Sdn Bhd."

We have turned positive on the long-term prospects of GenM as we believe that GenM is expected to see an exponential YoY profit growth in FY22. However, we believe that FY21 performance will be weaker than expected as the inter-state travel ban for populous states like the Klang Valley, Johor and Penang are still in place. However, we believe that investors would start to look beyond FY21 due to the timeline of vaccine rollouts and lower trend of Covid-19 cases. We opine that SkyWorlds theme park would also be a catalyst for GenM’s recovery in FY22 . Hence we roll forward our SOP valuations from FY21 to FY22, upgrading our HOLD call to a BUY call at TP of RM3.55.

Weathering through FY21. We believe that FY21 will continue to be very challenging for GenM as inter-state travel is still banned. We now expect the inter-state travel ban to be in place for 1 more month and this would imply a footfall of less than 15% for a total of 4 months for RWG since the inception of MCO2.0.

V shaped recovery is expected in FY22. We expect a significant YoY recovery for GenM in FY22 due to the timeline of vaccine rollouts and we are confident that Malaysia will achieve some form of normalcy in FY22. We believe that the public’s willingness to travel would be positively correlated with the vaccination rates in the country.

SkyWorlds theme park to boost footfall into RWG. SkyWorlds, which is slated to open by 1H21, features 9 movie and adventure inspired worlds that will include 26 rides and attractions with more to come in the future. Skyworlds currently owns the IPs (Intellectual Properties) for Rio and Ice Age and are planning on complementing existing IPs with homegrown IPs. The Company plans to introduce other IPs to the park as well in the future. Recall that GenM has reached a settlement with 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney in 2019 in relation to the development of its theme park, which was supposed to be named 20th Century Fox World. The settlement has allowed GenM a license to use certain Fox IPs. We believe that the main beneficiary from its SkyWorld theme park would be its casinos and occupancy rates for its hotels as families would frequent RWG more since it would be a place of attraction for both adults and kids.

Forecast. We downgrade FY21 earnings from RM669m to a loss of -RM74.2m due to the longer than expected inter-state travel ban while leaving our FY22 earnings assumption unchanged.

Upgrade to BUY at TP of RM3.55. We have upgraded our SOP-derived TP to RM3.55 (from RM2.67) despite our downgrade in FY21 earnings as we roll forward our valuation to FY22. We believe that investors would start to look ahead with plenty of positives in the pipeline like the (i) lifting of inter-state travel ban (ii) higher vaccination rate and lower fears of Covid-19 infections and (iii) opening of Skyworlds theme park.

Singapore port readies for Suez Canal backlog

Singapore, the world’s largest container transhipment port, is readying itself for a backlog of ships and cargoes from the closure of the Suez Canal in late March.

Marcus Hand | Apr 12, 2021

While ships bound from Asia to Europe stranded by the blockage of the Suez Canal from 23 – 29 March started to reach container ports in the Med last week, the longer distance to Asia means that vessels bound from Europe and US stuck on the North side of the canal are yet to reach Asian ports.

“More recently the Suez Canal blockage cast the spotlight on the critical role shipping plays in keeping the global supply chain in motion,” Maritime & Port Authority of Singapore chief executive Quah Ley Hoon told a media briefing on Monday morning.

A surge in traffic is expected at Singapore’s port as the ships held up at the canal arrive from Europe and the US.

“So, the Port of Singapore is readying ourselves as a catch-up port to handle anticipated shipping backlog, our terminal operators are preparing more berths, equipment and operators to increase the handling capacity,” Quah said.

In particular terminal operator PSA is working with shipping lines on the backlog and the schedules of their vessels.

“PSA have for example made available their digital platform Calista to try and allow ships to have a better sense of the services and berth availability in Singapore,” she explained.

At present the vessels that were stuck at the canal are still sailing to Singapore and how long it will take to clear the backlog will depend on schedules.

BREAKING

BioNTech-Pfizer raise 2021 vaccine output goal to 2.5 billion doses
MARCH 30, 20217:01 PM UPDATED 14 HOURS AGO

FRANKFURT (Reuters) -BioNTech and Pfizer will boost manufacturing capacity of their COVID-19 vaccine to 2.5 billion doses by the end of 2021, BioNTech said on Tuesday, as it projected sales of nearly 10 billion euros ($11.7 billion) from the product this year.

Pfizer previously said the partners would likely produce between 2.3 billion and 2.4 billion doses in 2021.

BioNTech cited its new facility in the German city of Marburg and an expansion of the pair’s network of third-party manufacturers and suppliers as drivers of the larger volumes.

“Additional measures and discussions with potential partners to further expand the manufacturing capacity and network are ongoing,” it said.

As of last week more than 200 million doses of the product, known as BNT162b2 or Comirnaty, had been supplied to more than 65 countries, while signed orders for delivery in 2021 currently amount to 1.4 billion doses, said BioNTech.

But the boost in output reflected increased demand and “discussions for additional dose commitments are ongoing”, it added.

Efforts to ramp up production at its Marburg facility, where it launched production in February after purchasing the site from Novartis last year, were making “remarkable progress”, said chief executive and co-founder Ugur Sahin.

The EU’s drugs regulator last week granted BioNTech approval for the use of COVID-19 vaccines produced at the facility, which has projected annual output of 1 billion doses.

Based on this order backlog, BioNTech said it expects 9.8 billion euros in revenues from the product this year, reflecting direct sales, sales to collaboration partners, milestone payments from partners and a share of gross profit in the partners’ territories.

That compares to sales of 270.5 million euros made from Comirnaty last year by the company, which since its 2008 inception has primarily worked on cancer treatments, and with 482.3 million in group sales last year.

The group also said 2020 net income came in at 15.2 million euros, versus a loss of 179 million a year earlier.

US to start seizing Top Glove products at all its ports
March 29, 2021 11:47 PM

PETALING JAYA: The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has directed personnel at all US ports of entry to begin seizing disposable gloves produced by Top Glove Corporation Bhd.
The CBP action comes after a statement earlier that it has found “sufficient information” to believe that the glove manufacturer uses forced labour in the production of disposable gloves in Malaysia.
