READ revenue. After offsetting all the costs involved to fly per flight, it doesn't show profit. Revenue =/= profit. Learn your accounting and finance.

More on Roki wifi:
Chats Plan - 5MB - RM9
Internet Plan - 15MB - RM18
Internet Plan - 50MB - RM48
#####
Example: Aquaman 720p (HD) quality movie on iTunes already takes up about 5GB of data to download. Streaming maybe less. Compressed version on torrent usually about 700MB to 1-3GB.
Streaming might take less data due to compression but i've been monitoring. One hour show on Netflix usually eats up about 3GB of my data quota.
So if people do stream on Roki, albeit on a smaller screen, you can imagine how much data is needed. And you do the math with the Roki rates above.
That is, if customers are so foolish to do so. But it's a wonderful thing for us shareholders.

Meanwhile, for MAS. Full service. Food, drinks whatever all free. Baggage allowance damn banyak.
In the end? Very low ancillary (maybe duty free got lah). Even ticket prices mahal still making billions of losses. Airlines business is extremely tough without ancillary. Tickets alone won't be able to cover your costs most of the time.
2019-03-21 08:52 | Report Abuse
PeirYun Sing: Tony mentioned that himself. Look up his various speeches on ancillary income. Or interviews he gave to the local media.

Also, big data and data analytics enable AA to push targeted ads, like how facebook and google ads work. You browse a certain products, you get the ads.
Such ads will be pushed to you when you use the in-flight entertainment. Keep showing you ads now and then to increase chance that customers will buy.
I admit that even on Facebook, I have clicked on many relevant ads that made me purchase on Lazada and Shopee.
So this is actually a good development for AA to boost ancillary.
I am only waiting for more details and clarity from AA on how much have been poured into making that happen and how much revenue have been earned so far. And how to boost that further. And lastly, how long till it will go full swing with every aircraft in the fleet. So far not all planes have been equipped from the last I heard.

Free streaming of movies, music and travel guides, yes. But you need Roki wifi access for those. See the misleading advertising? That I have confirmed with AA rep. Content is free, wifi accecss is not.

But then, I still don't see much development on that front. Might take more time to see the fruits of labour. Oh yeah, for the above, add in the ridiculously priced Roki wifi too. For customers, the pricing is absurd, but for us shareholders, really nice to see the revenue coming in.
AA is also doing away with the physical magazines that were provided in planes. Soon, everyone needs to download the digital version of the in-flight mag. Entertainment (movies and songs) also via wifi. And you need to pay Roki for access. Imagine if you stream movies, how much data you consume. And look at Roki's rates. I can see money falling down from sky.
But then, customers backlash will follow because many will unknowingly try and kena wonderful bill total if that's the case. Let's see how it goes.

Yeah airlines business is extremely tough. Look at AAX and the long haul model. Part of what Tony said about delivering more value is mostly through boosting ancillary, which is already one of the biggest earner for AA for years.
AA doesn't profit from tickets. It's the baggage fees, better seats upgrade, food, drinks, and duty free. By using big data and data analytics to precisely target customers and increase the likelihood that customers will purchase, it will guarantee an increase of revenue, double or triple fold easily.

It's experiencing some issues at the moment. And very dependent on the ringgit performance (for all export stocks). It will do extremely well if Ringgit declines heavily. If ringgit strengthens then not so.

Yeah Top Glove is still the world number one in gloves. And it's products are well diversified unlike its other 2-3 rivals that are mostly concentrated on one type of products.
Came across this video. Quite helpful but do supplement your homework with other info. Don't rely too much on one source (the video).

My average was 4.6 but then when it plunged to about 4.4 I cut right away and bought something else. Wrong decision. Should have used all and gone into RHB. Got RHB quite cheap. Better buy than TopGlove. I'm thinking of adding more banks into my portfolio. Kinda missed the chanced to get CIMB and Bank Islam when both were low.

Says someone who has just created his account in 2018. I've held AA much longer and have seen the ups and downs. Naik abit keep shouting like win million dollar lottery.
Won't you get tired of shouting buy every single day? If investing is about day by day gain, then everyone has become millionaires, maybe billionaires. Don't call yourself an investor if you are a day-trader.

Yeah I do agree. Prices are falling beyond its fundamentals. Still a money making machine. But then I was careless for believing that with the good quarter result, Genting mother won't fall below RM7.1. It's now breaching 6.90.
Just hope to catch more of both cheaper, if possible. If not also I'm quite fine for now. Aiming for next Q personally.

Malaysia is a huge part of GenM, but there's a mix of some overseas business. I like Genting the mother because it encompasses all of Genting's businesses.
Singapore is expanding further. Submission for the Japan casino bid is coming up. But then plantation is badly hit by low prices.
Malaysia pulak quite stagnant. And with the new tax regime, it's definitely gonna be hit for the next few quarters. That's why I believe still can wait.

News is true okay. But then doesn't mean anything. Actually it's highly suspected that Disney was behind the cancellation of the deal with Genting. Fox was okay, but since Disney is taking over, Disney vetoed. Read it somewhere can't remember.
No big deal I guess.

Some people only know how to keep shouting buy buy buy buy fly fly fly. Investing requires lots of research, studies and evaluations. If you wanna lose money, might as well go Genting and gamble instead of investing.
You might win by simply following such buy calls by random strangers or simply buy any stocks that are hot. You win some yes but the possibilities of things going south is much higher than you think.
People can do whatever they want, yes. But just a kind note of cautious. Don't trust random strangers that are overzealous. Be careful in investing.

Talk about 3 metrics but don't even touch on leasing costs and it's effect moving forward. As far as I know, not much info were given by management on how much and how long preferential rates were given to AA when the planes were leased back after sale.
Need to observe the leasing costs pattern for a few more quarters to get more clarity. If leasing costs keep on ballooning, be very careful with AA.
2019-03-19 08:52 | Report Abuse
First, AA has to control the leasing cost. Not much details have been given on how that works as far as I know. Maybe AA gets preferential rate for the first few years, then crazy expensive rates thereafter. Risk: leasing cost might suddenly balloon up. Who knows.
I'd be great if more info were given. Gonna sit and wait to observe the pattern of leasing cost for the next two quarters. That's what I don't like about leasing.

Buying blindly is not wise investing. Evaluate and consider all possibilities. Don't buta2 buy. Invest at your own risk. Don't try to mislead people for own benefit. Karma bites.
Not taking sides but be careful because lots of prominent figures in the investing world has been warning about a crash. US is on the 11-12th year straight of recovery. The longest was 10 years ever recorded. Something might be coming. Market is also heating up against fundamentals.

This should be for AAX since it's long haul. But interesting routes. Intriguing decision to based the flights in BKK instead of KLIA2. Need volume, or else the routes might end up like Tehran, being canned.

Genting lovers can have a look at Malaysian-owned Nagacorp, listed in Hong Kong.
It's NagaWorld in Cambodia is on a roll and it's already building a resort casino in Vladivostok, Russia's far east.
Plans are also in place to venture into Mongolia and Kazakhstan (Muslim majority country @.@).
Not as diverse as Genting's business (+ plantation, energy, property, cruise), but huge growth potential.
