There is no point for MIMOS to keep the 5K capacity. There is no economy of scale for MIMOS.
For foundary to make money, two important criteria must be full filled, namely
1. Economy of scale. It means the more WPM produce, the better the cost. Therefore, the capacity will be 36k + 5k WPM in the near future.
2. The ASP is also very much depended on the complexity of the IC design and processes. With CGP, Foxconn and ILI help, it is no long a problem, I presumed.



Now, we have Multi Layer Mask (MLM, not the pyramid shaped commission system, LOL) increases from 8.3 million mask layers to 10 million mask layers, thus annual capacity production can increase by 20%. Indirectly, it means current capacity is (36k + 5k) X 120% WPM = 49.2k WPM in year 2023.

Thanks to Foxconn and CGP for their expertise in identifying the bottlenecks, process improvements and cost savings. We only can see all these miracles after DNeX takes over SilTerra.


Back to MAX2838 (in one of your previous postings), so tell us it is worth spending RM645 mil capex????





Production is still continued nonstop while waiting for 49.2K WPM soon. And at the same time, it is adaptable to latest processes like C-SOI based technology.

I like your reverse engineering calculation for DNeX PATAMI (Mine is slightly higher than yours, but anyway your figure is good enough for us as a reference point).

I also want to add on the future catalyst for DNeX that can boost the future earning down the road.

1. In future, the WPM is 36k + 5k. And the ASP for each wafer is very much depend on the complexity of the IC design. With CGP and ILI Technology as partner, getting higher ASP moving forward is not a problem.
2. Avalon which is 100% owns by PING is expected to start production in 2023. It is a greenfield and the capacity output is yet unknown.
3. (my wishful thinking list) Since SilTerra is in upstream business, is it possible to create a downstream business just to complete the JIT process...save time, save cost and increase efficiency. Boleh??

The bottom line, DNeX must SHOW US The MONEY.... The more the merrier

Production in Mexico started in July. Factory utilization reaches 30% to 35% by this year end. Factory utilization reaches 60% next year provided everything goes smooth. Thus revenue and profit (from Mexico) will kick in into Able account slowly but surely moving forward.

Despite SQF certified, and with current utilization rate this year and next year, I guess it is unlikely to sell product to Walmart yet. Mexico and her surrounding neighbour countries have enough population to cater for the demands.
Selling products to Walmart means Able Mexico needs massive production (100% utilization, or perhaps another new factory setup). It is just a matter of time Able's products reach Walmart.
