I first started my analysis of Dayang in Nov when it was trading < RM 0.90 per share. It has since gone above RM 1.20 but seemed to have come down a bit. There is long-term value and is worth a look if it goes below RM 1.00 as per my article "is Dayang a value trap?"

White Horse business is linked to the property and construction sectors. So we should not be surprised about its current poor performance given that these 2 sectors have been in the down part of their cycle in the past few years. I would expect White Horse performance to pick up when these 2 sectors recover. So White Horse is a long term prospect for those with the holding power. If you want to see the rationale for my thesis, search "Is White Horse a value trap?"

Petron is no longer a refining company. It is today a petroleum retailing company that happens to have an in-house refinery. Given its current price is Petron Malaysia a value trap? I don't think so as its performance has been "hidden" by the low oil price. In terms of physical volume of sales, it has managed to grow its sales by 24 % over the past 7 to 8 years probably at Petronas expense. There is value at the current price but this is a stock for those with holding-power as any re-rating will depend on the oil price. There are several fundamental analysis of this company online. Check them to verify my view.

Steel is a cyclical commodity. It is currently in the down part of the cycle. CSC Steel has a track record of being profitable during the previous cycle is will probably continue to do so for the current cycle. It is also financially sound. This is one stock for those with holding-power. There are a number of fundamental analyses online. Check them out to verify my view
