Fahmi said the government does not prevent the people from criticising, especially regarding policies implemented by the government and said there is a lot of content on social media that criticises the government.

However, he insisted that defamatory matters are prohibited from being disseminated based on existing laws.

“The issue is when it comes to slander. During Ramadan last month, someone made a slanderous statement saying that the Prime Minister is sick, and that the Prime Minister has so many diseases. That is pure slander and such things are prohibited by law,” he said, adding that every action taken by the government is always based on the law.

KUALA KUBU BARU: Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has pledged to "tell all" on May 11 over the circumstances which led to the Selangor menteri besar lodging a police report against him.

He claimed the police report was lodged following his allegations of misappropriation in the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

Speaking at Perikatan Nasional's (PN) announcement of its candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election last night, Azmin, who is also the Hulu Kelang assemblyman, claimed the police report was filed to silence him.

He said the police report would not deter him from making further "disclosures."

“Not only that, to enhance healthcare services at KKB, we plan to establish an emergency department (currently only an emergency unit) staffed with emergency medicine specialists by early May,” he said.

Dzulkefly said other aspects needing improvement in government healthcare facilities in KKB include enhancing services for the surrounding population which includes addressing congestion in the pharmacy unit and providing additional parking spaces. — Bernama

PAKATAN Harapan (PH) should never throw caution to the wind by being hastily influenced or carried away by the campaign to free or lighten the sentence of incarcerated former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak or any other “heavenly caste criminals”.

This is because if Najib was able to deal a cruel blow to Barisan Nasional (BN) in the 14th General Election (GE14) in 2018 in his capacity as Malaysia’s sixth prime minister (PM), there is very likelihood that his release as a criminal could inflict similar defeat to PH and its allies.

“It is not surprising that there are powerful people close to Najib who want him to be pardoned or subject him to house arrest,” warned veteran journalist and blogger Datuk A. Kadir Jasin in a recent Facebook post.

Worsening geopolitical tensions, including war in the Middle East and Ukraine, and the prospect of lower US interest rates all burnish gold’s billing as an investment. But juicing the rally is unrelenting Chinese demand, as retail shoppers, fund investors, futures traders and even the central bank look to bullion as a store of value in uncertain times.

“I have been asked what would happen to industries that rely on telemarketing services to promote their services if the police continue to advise all to not answer calls from unknown numbers. I urge these industries to change their promotion tactics and not try to change consumer behaviour.“Among the more popular tactics in online scams are the use of phone calls to contact victims directly. This has created a fear among people that unknown calls are from scammers.“Our priority must be the protection of consumers,” he said.

In the eyes of the police, he said, the best way to avoid being scammed is to simply ignore unknown calls, as this completely removes the risk of being cheated over the phone.
