Reference is made to the Company’s announcement dated 20 January 2016 in respect of the award of contract by Coneff Corporation Sdn Bhd (“Coneff”) on 20 January 2016, for the provision of construction works for two (2) blocks of commercial towers comprising service apartments, two (2) storeys of retail units, one (1) storey of recreational centre and seven (7) storeys of car parks located at Lot 36071 & 36072, Phase 3B, Desa Tasik, Mukim Petaling, Sg Besi, Kuala Lumpur (“the Project”).

The Company wishes to announce that VESB had on 9 June 2017 sent a notice to Coneff on the termination of the aforesaid contract due to non-fulfilments of certain contractual obligations. The Board of Directors is of the opinion that the non-fulfilments of the contractual obligations had made it difficult for VESB to complete the project and hence it is in the best interest of the Group to terminate the contract.

The termination of the contract is not expected to materially affect the earnings and net assets of the Group as it has concurrent on-going projects, and is confident of securing additional new projects in the foreseeable future in view of the fact that the Group has a rich pipeline of several sizable projects currently under bid.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 25): CIMB IB Research has maintained its “Reduce” rating on Hovid Bhd at 35 sen with a higher target price of 32 sen (from 30 sen) and said Hovid’s 9MFY17 core net profit were below expectations, at only 35% of house and 26% of Bloomberg consensus full-year estimates.

In a note May 24, the research house said Hovid’s 9MFY17 revenue and net profit declined by 2.6% and 54.4% y-o-y, respectively.

It said this was attributed to: i) production loss in 3QFY17 due to suspension of both its manufacturing licences, ii) lower sales volume, and iii) higher operating costs.

“Licence secured since for both plants at Chemor (March 6) and Ipoh (May 5); full production resumed.

“Maintain Reduce, but SOP-based target price raised to 32 sen. We are removing the 10% discount to its 5-year mean P/E, in tandem with the reissuance of both licences,” it said.

ANNOUNCEMENT TO BURSA MALAYSIA SECURITIES BERHAD
ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT IN WHOLLY-OWNED SUBSIDIARY, MFM LTD.
1. INTRODUCTION
The Board of Directors of Malayan Flour Mills Berhad (“MFM” or “Company”) wishes to
announce that the Company had on 20 April 2017, increased its investment in the capital of
its wholly-owned subsidiary, MFM Ltd. (“MFML”) from USD100 to USD71,529 by
subscribing for an additional 71,429 ordinary shares in cash, at USD1.00 per share (“the
Additional Investment”).
2. DETAILS OF THE ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT
2.1 Information on MFML
MFML was incorporated on 25 August 2008 under the Labuan Companies Act, 1990
and is domiciled in the Federal Territory of Labuan, Malaysia. MFML is principally
engaged in trading and hedging activities.
As at 20 April 2017, the authorised share capital of MFML is USD300,000 divided
into 300,000 ordinary shares of USD1.00 each. Following the Additional Investment,
the Company holds 71,529 ordinary shares in MFML, representing 100% of its issued
and fully paid-up share capital.
3. RATIONALE FOR THE ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT
The Additional Investment is to strengthen the capital base of MFML and to finance its
working capital requirement.
4. FINANCIAL EFFECTS OF THE ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT
4.1 Share Capital
The Additional Investment did not have any effect on the issued and paid-up share
capital of MFM.
4.2 Substantial Shareholders’ Shareholdings
The Additional Investment did not have any effect on the substantial shareholders'
shareholdings in MFM.
4.3 Earnings and Earnings per Share (“EPS”)
The Additional Investment will not have any material effect on the consolidated
earnings and EPS of MFM for the current financial year ending 31 December 2017.
4.4 Net Assets (“NA”) and Gearing
The Additional Investment will not have any material effect on the NA and gearing of
MFM Group for the current financial year ending 31 December 2017.
5. APPROVAL REQUIRED
The Additional Investment did not require the approval of the shareholders of MFM or any
relevant authority.
6. INTERESTS OF DIRECTORS, MAJOR SHAREHOLDERS AND/OR PERSONS
CONNECTED
None of the Directors of MFM or its major shareholders and persons connected with a
director or major shareholder of the Company has any interest, direct and/or indirect, in the
Additional Investment.
7. DIRECTORS' STATEMENT
The Board of Directors of MFM having considered all aspects of the Additional Investment,
is of the opinion that the Additional Investment is in the best interest of the Company.

Boustead Plantations mulls monetising more land bank

KUALA LUMPUR: Boustead Plantations Bhd is evaluating some of its land assets, which have turned into prime land, to see which it may monetise for profit or jointly develop with others.

“There are some pieces land which have become very valuable of late for development. In Johor for example, we own a big chunk of the eastern part, close to Pengerang. The land we own in Kulai may also be developed. These are some plots [which] we are studying whether to retain as plantations or [earmark] for property development,” vice chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin told reporters after the company’s extraordinary general meeting (EGM) yesterday.

According to the company’s annual report 2016, it has 670.5ha of freehold oil palm estate in Kulai and 3,690.1ha of the same in Telok Sengat, Johor. Its land bank spans 82,516ha across Malaysia.

At the EGM, shareholders approved the proposed sale of five adjoining freehold plots in Seberang Perai Utara, Penang, measuring 677.78ha in all, to a subsidiary of S P Setia Bhd for RM620.1 million. The company will gain some RM526 million from the sale, Lodin said.

The sale leaves Boustead Plantations with some 701.22ha nearby. Lodin said the land’s prospects should grow when S P Setia develops the parcels it is buying.

Of the sale proceeds, the company plans to use RM300 million to buy oil palm plantation land, while RM287 million will be used to repay bank borrowings, which should reduce its gearing to 0.23 times from 0.41 times now.

The company will allocate RM50 million for capital expenditure this year, RM40 million of which is for the replanting of 1,800ha of land.

It hopes to maintain its dividend payout for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2017. “If we continue to dispose of the non-core land and crude palm oil (CPO) continues to do well, then of course we will be able to pay good dividends,” said Lodin. He forecast the CPO price to average between RM2,400 and RM2,500 per tonne this year.

“Last year, we were one of the best dividend stocks, with a yield of about 8.7%. We have not been stingy; we paid almost 100% of our net profit in the last few years. We hope to continue doing so,” he added.

PETALING JAYA (April 5): Boustead Plantations Bhd hopes to maintain its dividends payout for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2017 (FY17).

"If we continue to dispose of the non-core land and crude palm oil continue to do well, then of course we will be able to pay good dividends," its vice chairman Tan Sri Lodin Wok Kamaruddin told reporters after the company's extraordinary general meeting (EGM) today.

"In the past few years, we have been giving high dividends. In fact, last year, we are one of the best yielding stocks, with dividend yield at about 8.7%," he said.

"We have not been stingy in paying dividends — almost 100% of our net profit in the last few years — we hope to continue the policy," he added.

Lodin said the company will continue to evaluate some of its land which has become "prime land" and "valuable" in recent years.

"We can sell the land to others or develop the land ourselves or through joint venture," he said.

He expects CPO price to trade between RM2,400 and RM2,500 per metric tonne this year.

At the EGM today, Boustead Plantations' shareholders approved the proposed sale of five adjoining parcels of freehold land in Seberang Perai Utama, measuring a total of 677.78 hectares, to Setia Recreation Sdn Bhd for RM620.1 million cash.

Setia Recreation is a subsidiary of S P Setia Bhd.

Lodin said Boustead Plantations planned to use RM300 million of the proceeds for the acquisition of oil palm plantation lands, focusing on Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.

At 2.49pm, shares of Boustead Plantations traded unchanged at RM1.65, for a market capitalisation of RM2.64 billion.
