Muhyiddin also gave a breakdown of the events according to the dates that led to the Cabinet’s decision to cancel the SKIN project on Nov 30, 2018.

He said it was also then that the Integrated Immigration System went through the open tender.

Muhyiddin also rubbished reports that the contract for the new system had been given to a company linked to a senior official at the Home Ministry as they were still developing the scope and specifications of the system required by the department.

“The final tender document is expected to be completed only in April. To date, no company has been awarded the contract as alleged by Malaysiakini in their report. Any awarding of the contracts will be done through open tender as advised by the Cabinet,” he said.

Muhyiddin also stressed that the change in director-general did not have anything to do with the government’s decision to cancel the concession agreement with PSSB.

“These allegations are malicious and not true, altogether. It may be deliberately made by those who are unhappy with the Cabinet’s decision to cancel SKIN. Besides, the recommendations by my ministry were carefully crafted and brought four times before the Cabinet for consideration. It was not made arbitrarily,” he added.
