Sapura Energy Plc RM410 Million CEO Pay, RM533 Million Losses, Borrowings RM16.4 BILLION!
Strange things are happening in the Bumiputra corporate world with KLSE listed Sapura Energy Plc, which is in the Oil & Gas business. For the 5 years ended 31st January 2014-2018, Sapura LOST RM533 million after tax, but paid major shareholder and CEO Shahril Shamsuddin RM410 MILLION as follows:

1. Salary - RM43 Million.
2. EPF/Benefits - $49 Million
3. Performance Bonus - RM318 MIllion???!!!

That's about RM225,000 per day average!!!

Govt pension fund KWAP holds 6.35% and Amanah Saham Bumiputra 6.46% of Sapura shares. EPF used to hold about 13% but sold it down to 2.92% as Sapura's share price plunged from a 2013 high of RM4.98 to 47 cents, and currently at about 60 cents.

What gives? Is there any reason the Securities Commission (SC) should look into Sapura from the viewpoint of possible breach of fiduciary duty to shareholders by Chairman/Remuneration Committee/BoD?
