KUALA LUMPUR (April 16): E-government services providers MyEG Services Bhd and Heitech Padu Bhd have formed a partnership to collaborate on IT projects in Malaysia.

According to separate bourse filings from both companies on Tuesday, MyEG and Heitech Padu have inked a teaming agreement for the collaboration.

“The purpose of the agreement is to set forth the understanding of the parties with respect to their respective roles and responsibilities wherein the parties wish to collaborate in the marketing activities, sharing of related know-how and system integration of IT solution for identified projects to potential customers of the parties,” the filings read.


MyEG is a substantial shareholder in Heitech Padu with a 15.9% stake via MyEG Capital Sdn Bhd.
Via this same stake, MyEG co-founder and managing director Wong Thean Soon (better known as TS Wong), who owns a 28.9% equity interest in MyEG comprising both his direct interest and via his investment vehicle Asia Internet Holdings Sdn Bhd, is deemed a substantial shareholder in Heitech Padu.

Meanwhile, MyEG non-independent non-executive director Datuk Mohd Jimmy Wong Abdullah, who owns a 0.09% stake in the company, is also a non-independent non-executive director of Heitech Padu.

MyEG noted that Mohd Jimmy and TS Wong will continue to abstain from all deliberation and voting at relevant company board meetings, while Heitech Padu noted the same for Mohd Jimmy in its relevant board meetings.

Notably, Heitech Padu is reportedly one of the three companies shortlisted to take on the RM1 billion National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) project after Iris Corp Bhd was dropped from the job.
Previously, The Edge reported that MyEG’s interest in Heitech Padu goes beyond just the NIISe project.

“Although both companies are involved in the provision of services to the government, there is no overlap, as each company is focused on completely different aspects of e-services.

“Both companies will work together to explore opportunities to participate in projects that are in line with our competencies and objectives, and this will not be limited to the NIISe project,” a MyEG spokesperson told The Edge.
At the time of writing, shares in MyEG were down half a sen or 0.64% to 77.5 sen, valuing the company at RM5.82 billion.

Meanwhile, Heitech Padu shares were trading one sen or 0.41% lower at RM2.42, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM244.96 million.

Electricity cable manufacturer Master Tec Group Bhd expects higher revenue growth and a demand shift towards aluminium in conductors, amid the recent surge in copper prices..
Production cost for copper conductors has increased by around 5% and the company is passing on the higher cost to its customers, chief executive officer Tee Kok Hwa told The Edge. Master Tec has also observed the rising trend among customers preferring aluminium conductors, he noted.
“The demand for aluminium conductors as an alternative to copper conductors will increase in a wider range of applications,” Tee said.
Prices of copper — used in everything from electrical wires to water pipes — have surged to near two-year high, amid supply concerns and strong demand.
The three-month copper futures rose to a 20-month high at US$9,457.50 a tonne on London Metal Exchange on Friday (April 12), while the three-month primary aluminium price advanced by 1.63% to US$2,494 per tonne.
Aluminium conductors were mainly used in the utility market segment, though “people started accepting aluminium conductors in sub-main cables for commercial and non-commercial buildings” after the previous round of copper price rally in 2022, Tee said.
With the renewed surge in copper prices, the use of aluminium may expand to other applications, such as power cable for infrastructure, he said.
Shares of Mastec Tec have more than doubled since its listing on Jan 29 this year, and values the company at RM1.07 billion on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market. The stock was trading at RM1.05 at 3.30pm on Monday versus its initial public offering (IPO) price of 39 sen a share.
The sharp rally prompted an unusual market activity query from Bursa Malaysia, which Master Tec said it was not aware of any reason that could explain the spike. 
Master Tec is mainly involved in the manufacturing and distribution of power cables, control and instrumentation cables, and solar direct current power cables. The company raised RM61.66 million from the IPO, which was oversubscribed by more than seven times by the public.
Tee said the company is raising its production capacity for aluminium-cored wires and cables by the fourth quarter of 2024, with two new production plants which can manufacture both medium-voltage and low-voltage power cables.
For the financial quarter ended Dec 31, 2023 (4QFY2023), Master Tec reported a net profit of RM4.53 million, on the back of RM82.19 million in revenue. For FY2023, it reported a net profit of RM23.94 million, on the back of RM285.44 million in revenue.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Phillip Capital has initiated coverage on local power distribution system provider HE Group Bhd (HEG) with a “buy” rating at 49 sen and target price (TP) of 75 sen, pegged to target 18x price-to-earnings (PE) multiple (in line with the mechanical, electrical, and process utility peer valuation under its universe) on 2025E earnings per share.

In a note on Monday, the research house said it sees the current forward 12x PE valuation as attractive and with room to re-rate, backed by strong earnings growth prospects underpinned by a robust contract pipeline.

“HEG’s net cash position of RM51.7 million (RM0.12/share) provides opportunities to seek earnings-accretive M&A deals, being one of its catalysts.

“Key downside risks include slower-than-expected project rollouts affecting order book replenishment, margin compression from heightened competition, and unforeseen project delays,” it said.

Phillip Capital said HEG is a strong proxy of rising domestic foreign direct investment, given its exposure to semiconductors and data centres (DCs).

“We expect a three-year 30% profit CAGR over 2023-26E to be anchored by a robust semiconductor and DC contract pipeline,” it said..
