Malaysia proposes reciprocal Covid-19 vaccine certificate recognition among D-8 member states

PUTRAJAYA (April 8): Malaysia on Thursday proposed to the D-8 Organisation for Economic Cooperation (D-8) the possibility of having Reciprocal COVID-19 Vaccine Certificate Recognition among its member states to speed up the reopening of hardest-hit sectors.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin put forward the proposal in his keynote speech at the 10th Summit of the D-8 on Thursday as he addressed the summit virtually, in view of the vaccines roll out plans that are already in motion in most countries.

Muhyiddin is leading Malaysia's delegation to the virtual summit, chaired by Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed. The D-8 consists of eight developing countries namely Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Kerajaan Johor sedang membangunkan aplikasi khas untuk pendaftaran vaksin COVID-19 bagi rakyat negeri ini yang berulang-alik untuk urusan kerja di Singapura.

Menteri Besar, Datuk Hasni Mohammad, berkata aplikasi itu yang dikenali sebagai IMMu Plan Johor dibangunkan dengan kerjasama Kementerian Sains dan Teknologi.

"Aplikasi ini sedang dibangunkan dan pada peringkat awal ini untuk mereka yang perlu bekerja dan berulang-alik setiap hari.

"Jumlah awal yang kita bincangkan dan kemuka permohonan kepada Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi adalah membabitkan seramai 100,000 individu untuk pendaftaran vaksin ini yang sudah dikenal pasti," katanya pada sidang media bersama Menteri Sains, Teknologi dan Inovasi, Khairy Jamaluddin, hari ini.

Malaysia, China agree on health certs, ink MoU to enhance post-pandemic cooperation

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and China have agreed in principle to recognise each other's Covid-19 digital vaccination certificates or Covid-19 health certificates which would ease cross-border movement between the two countries in a post-pandemic future.

The move was announced by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein in a joint press conference with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, in Nanping City, Fujian Province.

The Minister is on a two-day working visit to the People's Republic of China.

The people's republic is the second country after Singapore which announced their commitment with Malaysia to mutually recognise Covid-19 vaccination certification to facilitate future cross-border travel.

New groups to be added to second phase of Covid-19 vaccination, says Khairy

SHAH ALAM (March 25): Several new groups of recipients for the second phase of Covid-19 vaccination will be announced on Monday, said Coordinating Minister for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Khairy Jamaluddin.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy said several new groups categorised as economic frontliners and other groups will be added as vaccine recipients in the second phase after it was agreed at the Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee level.

He said the matter was allowed as registration for the second phase was not full (at achieving its target), so the committee decided to give priority to other categories.

MOH facilities capable of administering COVID-19 vaccine to haj pilgrims - Dr Adham

PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry (MOH) facilities are ready and capable of administering COVID-19 vaccine to Malaysian pilgrims if the haj is allowed to be performed this year, said its Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba.
He said the Malaysian government was waiting for the haj quota to be announced by the Saudi Arabian government.
"If the haj can be performed this year, the number of pilgrims involved is between 30,000 and 50,000. This can be easily administered by the MOH," he said in a press conference with Coordinating Minister for National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme, Khairy Jamaluddin, on the vaccination exercise, here today.
On March 3, Saudi Arabian Health Minister Dr Tawfiq Al-Rabiah was reported to have said that only people who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to perform the haj.
