DATUK Abu Hanifah Noordin’s return to the board of Datasonic Group Bhd and as one of its major shareholders comes with the objective of restoring the company on its growth path after a battering by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Newly minted executive chairman, Hanifah, 71, wants to ensure that Datasonic’s core business of producing security and identity documents remains intact while it looks to diversify into other businesses such as healthcare facilities management and the metaverse.

Hanifah tells The Edge during a meet and greet lunch that he wants to ensure that his legacy as the founder of Datasonic remains. He also wants to resume its growth after two years of being hammered by the pandemic.

In addition, the proceeds from the Proposed Disposal will allow our Group to repay or settle the bank
borrowings and liabilities which were incurred by DPL for the Project as well as part of our Group’s other
bank borrowings. This will strengthen the financial position of our Group with its net gearing expected to
decrease from 1.29 times as at 30 June 2022 (audited) to 0.88 times and cash and short-term deposits
estimated to increase significantly from RM168.98 million as at 30 June 2022 (audited) to approximately
RM438.87 million as detailed in Section 6.1 of this Circular.

represents a significant improvement compared to LAT margin of 8% of immediate preceding quarter.

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 21): MY E.G. Services Bhd has inked a four-year collaboration agreement with the Institute of Industrial Internet and Internet of Things of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT).

In a bourse filing on Monday (Nov 21), the company said that under the deal, MY E.G. will own and operate the Xinghuo International Supernode that will provide connectivity from China to the rest of the world.

It said the agreement also entails the cross-border adoption and utilisation of the latest Decentralised Identifier standard (BID) to gradually create the Web3 of China and beyond.
