KUCHING: Despite the gloomy outlook for the oil and gas industry, Pantech Bhd (Pantech) can still book satisfactory earnings, thanks to continued pipe and fitting requirements for maintenance works and the ongoing RAPID works.

RHB Research Institute Sdn Bhd (RHB Research) had initially expected Pantech to deliver stronger second half financial year 2015 (2HFY15) numbers after its 1H profit made up just 45 per cent of the firm’s full-year estimate.

‘Sliding oil price can recover faster than previous cycle’

KUCHING: Oil price is expected to recover at a faster pace than its last cycle in 2008 to 2014 as the current global situation is fundamentally stronger than before.

Maybank Investment Bank Bhd’s research arm (Maybank IB Research) in a note highlighted,the oil and gas (O&G) sector is also expected to recover faster than in 2008, supported by improved balance sheets and less speculations in the current market.
