Supply disruptions and the lag time associated with OPEC’s ability to increase production could send oil prices to $100 a barrel, but this isn’t good news for the economy and the oil industry, Total’s chief executive Patrick Pouyanne told Bloomberg in an interview.

Disruptions in supply coming from Iran, Venezuela, and Libya give strong support to oil prices and they may head into triple-digit territory, according to Pouyanne, who reminded Bloomberg television that he predicted this development as early as in June this year.

On the other hand, although OPEC has pledged to boost production, output hasn’t increased so much, Pouyanne told Bloomberg.

Saudi Arabia has capacity of 11 million bpd, but boosting production from current levels would need time, because they have to mobilize rigs.

“You don’t push a button and then oil flows. It’s more complex than that,” Pouyanne said.

Total’s chief executive believes that $100 oil is a real possibility, but he is not especially thrilled with it.

KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 28): Reach Energy Bhd's producing asset in Kazakhstan, Emir-Oil LLP, has obtained authority approval to commence the trial production period of the North Kariman field in Kazakhstan for 15 months.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Reach Energy said the 15-month trial production period will commence on Oct 1, 2018 to Dec 31, 2019.

The approval granted for the trial production period allows Emir-Oil to put the North Kariman wells on production, and this is expected to increase current oil production levels substantially.

Reach Energy said the approval of the trial production period for the North Kariman field provides a clear signal from the authority for the company to proceed with the processes required to obtain a new production contract for the field.

In its 2017 annual report, Reach Energy had stated that it had applied for extension of trial production for the North Kariman wells to the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan.

At 5pm today, Reach Energy shares closed unchanged at 44 sen, for a market capitalisation of RM562 million.

maybe this will answer every single doubt for ECRL project. HSSEB only involving on feasibility study !!!

Normally if want to complete a project, few stages involves.

1. engineering studies and design
2. parts supplier
3. constructor company, person who actually construct the project.


based on my understanding, HSSEB is engineering company which provides engineering services and project management consultancy not a constructor. Looks back on the project timeline for HSR, they are expecting to construct on 2018 onwards and engineering studies been done since 2016.

same goes to ECRL. and construction began in August 2017. which means they already complete the engineering design and studies.



may refer to their webpage. check through what is the scope of work for the pass. NEVER EVER as a CONSTRUCTOR.

don't really understand why people will say HSSEB will have major impact on it.

this company not totally depending with this ecrl project. still have others project which already on going.. can say that you can't really find any company able to provide such engineering support in the markets
