KUALA LUMPUR: The Government will be able to recover RM10.02bil in the event that the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project is scrapped, says Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

The Sun Daily reported that water tariff rates may be increased in stages this year, in line with the government’s effort to restructure the water supply industry in the country. While this is not unexpected, such newsflow would help to draw more investor interest into water-related stocks.

A quick recap, government has recently via Air Selangor completed the takeover of four water treatment plant concessionaires namely, Puncak Niaga S/B, Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor S/B (Syabas), Konsortium ABASS S/B, and SPLASH.

With only one operator in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, it may look more viable for the government to carry out its effort in upgrading the current water infrastructure, which may include pipe replacement, upgrading and improvement of water treatment plants, and improvement works on existing water supply system. Not to mention that the government has also approved a MYR1.9b allocation of non-revenue water (NRW) reduction programme.

While it may be too early to gauge the financial impact, with the government’s effort to achieve a NRW of 31% by 2020, companies with exposure to water infrastructures like Jaks Resources, Fitters Diversified, Engtex, Salcon and Taliworks could see its share price reacting to water-related newsflow.

i3lurker for claim of BG the bank draft issue is just admin processing and 
normally available in 1 or 2 days time. 

the bank just uplift the FD, cancell the Original BG using Letter of Claim and transfer to bank draft issued to Star. 

Bank calls Star to collect bank draft and JJChan goes to bank to take the RM50 million cheque.
