“The reason for the share buyback is because we know that the company will continue to do well, especially in FY2021. The management views that the price [of the buybacks] makes it a good buy.

“The most important thing is that we have enough cash [to do so]. We have net cash of about RM2 billion. We learn from successful big companies like Apple Inc and Alphabet Inc in the US, which are also cash rich and conduct share buybacks.”

Lim also said the group’s estimated dividend yield was expected to exceed 6% for FY2021. Later, in a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Top Glove clarified that according to the company’s dividend policy of 50% payout ratio on net profit after minority interest, and based on the Bloomberg consensus FY2021 net profit of RM8.61 billion, the expected dividend per share would amount to 53 sen.

CNBC - WHO warns reinfections may occur as data suggests antibodies wane
Recent data suggests people who were once infected with the coronavirus could be infected again as their antibody response wanes, Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization’s health emergencies program, said during a press briefing.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some Covid-19 reinfections are expected based on the agency’s prior experience with similar viruses. In late August, researchers in Hong Kong reported what appeared to be the first confirmed case of Covid reinfection. While rare, the WHO said at the time that reinfection could be possible.
Maria Van Kerkhove, head of the WHO’s emerging diseases and zoonosis unit, said that researchers are still trying to determine how long an antibody response lasts after someone is naturally infected with the virus.
“In some people, it may wane after a few months but we do get a good indication that natural infection immune response is lasting for some months,” Van Kerkhove said.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/what-covid-19-reinfection-means-for-vaccines/ If and when reinfections with COVID-19 become the norm, the majority of people will weather the virus as they would any other cold. You get it, and after a certain period of time your body forgets it, leaving you vulnerable to its return. The key difference is that seasonal cold-causing viruses rarely cause lethal disease, while COVID-19 does at rates of 1–5 percent, depending on the health status of those it affects.

"Until then, the main risk for the first half of 2021 is that further waves of COVID-19 cases, requiring renewed containment measures, may harm a fragile economic recovery and lead to further credit deterioration, particularly in sectors most exposed to social distancing and travel restrictions,” she said.

The drugmaker repeatedly said publicly that it planned to ship 50 million vaccine doses this year and up to 1.3 billion doses by the end of 2021. A European Union lawmaker and physician has called the UK’s decision to authorize the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine “hasty," and is recommending other European countries do not follow suit.

In a statement published on the official’s website on Wednesday, Peter Liese, health policy spokesman of the European People's Party -- the largest political group in the EU Parliament -- said:

“I consider this decision to be problematic and recommend that EU Member States do not repeat the process in the same way. A few weeks of thorough examination by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is better than a hasty emergency marketing authorisation of a vaccine.”

SHAH ALAM: The government will use the educational approach on employers in various sectors until the end of this year so that they can comply with the Workers’ Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities (Amendment) Act 2019 (Act 446).

Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri M. Saravanan (pix) said errant employers would not be fined during this period as well since the enforcement of the act is still in its early stages.

“Our intention is not to fine the employers. If we are only focused on penalising (employers) for non-compliance, our efforts will eventually fail. However, during this period, let no party take advantage of the situation.

“It is the ministry’s responsibility to educate and encourage employers to comply (with Act 446). So, we will use discretion to introduce the act,“ he said at a press conference after launching the Labour Enrichment and Professionalism seminar, here, today.

Act 446 (Amendment) 2019, enacted on Sept 1 last year, aims to improve the Guidelines for the Foreign Workers’ Accommodation 2018, prepared by the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia, which covers the standard of minimum living space, basic facilities for homes and workers as well as elements of safety and hygiene that should be emphasised by the employer. This includes the prevention of the Covid-19 virus.

Delays in vaccine distribution or widespread refusal to be vaccinated would allow the virus to continue to circulate longer and delay the development of herd immunity, which occurs when enough people in a population have some form of protection that prevents the easy spread of a disease.
