We have some guys who drop by and wrote a one or two liners , and call them Conman, cheaters or whatever.

I find it uncommon to attach 2 boilers to a turbine. Maybe that is the cause for slightly higher costs.

Likewise, the cooling system.

I do not know whether the project cost of USD1.87B for JHDP and USD1.75B for Vinh Tan 1 respectively is due to better design of JHDP.
I was told JHDP has a better design than Vinh Tan 1 because JHDP is built later and has a better design improvement after Vinh Tan 1.

The point is that whether or not the same banker evaluate Vinh Tan 1, project cost USD1.75b vs. JHDP project cost USD1.87b based on their supercritical plant vs. subcritical plant OR based on power plant 12% project internal rate return?

CEEC is the contractor for Vinh Tan 1 project only.
CEEC/CPECC is the contractor and also the owner for JHDP.

CEEC built a "Supercritical" plant for Vinh Tan 1 project.
Do you think that CEEC/CPECC is so stupid to build a "Supercritical" plant for Vinh Tan 1 project and build a "subcritical" plant for JHDP ?
I was told JHDP is more superior in design than Vinh Tan 1 plant because CEEC/CPECC is the contractor and also the owner of JHDP power plant.

In initial design and proposal stage, IRR 12% was proposed to Vietnam government.
IRR should be 15% for 7,238 utilization hours and 8.2B kwh output for actual JHDP power plant when it is ready.

The actual IRR for Vinh Tan 1 plant is 15%, likewise, JHDP power plant.

I was told by the management of Jaks during the meeting. It is confirmed via phone call in front of me by the chief engineer of CEEC in Vietnam on the spot when I ask this question.

(2) on all articles and news, Jaks had been only reporting 7.5B kwh annual power sales. This is 10% lesser than what Vinh Tan 1 sold 8.2B kwh. The high sales of Vinh Tan 1 is likely due to its nameplate output which is slightly higher than Jaks by 4% and exceptional power demand due to dry season in 2019

They called up the engineers in Vietnam on the spot to confirm the below information.
Utilization hours = 7,238
Output kwh = 8.2B kwh.

What's remain within JHDP regardless of being 50% owned by Jaks currently will become 70% owned by CPECC in 3 years time. In view of this, personally, I do not think the auditor will agree to 50% sharing of profit to be recorded in Jaks' books unless the management has reasons beyond my knowledge to convince the auditor otherwise.

Anyway, lets wait for management response to OTB's query.

Even if Jaks is entitled to book 50% of the profit now, it will need to do a reversal after its equity interest reduced to 30% 3 years later.

However, I was told the management of Jaks wants another 10% stake urgently.
I told them to swap Jaks Resources Bhd shares in exchange for 10% stake in JHDP, they still have not come back to me.

From my understanding, Preference Share would not share the profit (unless it is converted to ordinary share), but entitle for dividend. Maybe i'm wrong .....

so buy call or sell call?..... recently one respectable guy was criticized for giving contradictory view......... but my view is that there is no contradictory view depending on the situation. As we are living in the dynamic changing world. the "buy call" can be turned into " sell call "and vice versa in the best interest of the investors... there is no harsh and fast rule by sticking to one sided decision only. ...............

Dear Icon8888,
During the planning stage, the utilization hours used for planning purpose was 6,500.
After the plant is completed, the correct utilization hours used should be 7,238 (same as Vinh Tan 1 power plant). Hence IRR should be 15% instead of 12%.
7,238 utilization hours is confirmed by the management of Jaks to me after checking with CPECC engineers.
