Insas cantek! Dead cat bounce.

A value trap persuades investors because the trade appears inexpensive relative to historical valuation multiples of the stock, industry peers, or the prevailing market multiple. A value trap can drop further after an investor buys into the company.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
Value traps are misleading investments trading at low levels that present buying opportunities for investors.
For a value trap investment, the low price is often accompanied by extended periods of low multiples.

What Is a Value Trap?
A value trap is a stock or other investment that appears attractively priced because it has been trading at low valuation metrics, such as price to earnings (P/E), price to cash flow (P/CF), or price to book value (P/B) for an extended period.

Based on latest QR Insas net cash after deducting loans/borrowings (but not preference shares) is about RM900 million which is around RM1.30 per share. Who in the right mind would sell Insas at RM1.09?

I just received my daily morning report from my broker which shows that foreign funds were net sellers in KLSE yesterday. This is bad news because if foreign funds continue to sell down, our KLSE CI will reverse, retailers will start to lose confidence. And Insas ..... Insas will be extremely difficult to reach 60 ringgit.

You don't learn this by reading stock investment books or attending investment talks, you earn the gains by actually timing when to buy and when to exit, all decision by yourself.

Why does Insas spike every 2 to 3 years? Because new water fish are drawn to it. Promoters starting repeating "Insas has so much Inari shares which are not reflected in the financial statements" ...... where else old water fish thinks the wait is paying off - "ini kali lah". For contrarians like me we just do the selling lah, we don't fall in love with Insas, it's just to fill our piggy bank.

If you buy 10,000 shares at 60 sen, sells all at RM1.10 your original RM6,000 becomes RM11,000 and with that amount you can later buy back say, 15,000 shares at around 70 sen. Then sell the 15,000 shares at RM1.20 to get RM18,000. Later when price drops back to say, 80 sen, you can buy 22,500 shares. And after selling off 22,500 shares at say, average price of RM1.30 you realised a total of RM29,250 , that's a gain of RM23,250 from your initial cost of investment of RM6,000 , almost 4 fold gain.

At 1.28 Insas is a value trap, at 60 sen it is a value stock. No price stays down forever (unless it gets delisted) and no price stays up forever.

I sincerely think most people think Insas is a value trap. Had I not thought so I wouldn't have completely exited thrice near the peak in the past ten years or so, making a 4 fold gain from my initial investment by buying back near bottom after having sold near peak.

The wait is 2 to 3 years. Over 10 years I made 4 fold gains from my initial investment in Insas exiting near peak thrice, the most recent last month.

Mr Sslee, you need to realize that you are not the only person holding no cost portion of Insas shares. There are many, many of them but 9f course none hold as much as you do. Slowly one by one will give up the wait and sell. And there are people who uses margin to build up big position and as price keeps drifting down, a margin call will begin.

Most people didn't sell Insas before CNY because they expected a post-CNY rally, and when this didn't happen they still didn't want to sell because they expected a rally after release of its quarterly results. But why was there no rally but instead an immediate free fall?

Stock

As soon as Insas released its quarterly results which was rather good, the share price went into free fall the next two days. Can anyone brilliant enough to provide an explanation?

Last month the highest price I sold Insas was at 1.34. If I buy back Insas at 1.14 when the market opens and hold until it goes to 1.34 again I stand to gain another 17.5%. That means I would be making 417.5% ?
