@DJDJ: Unfortunately, for some, the stock market is their life.

Well, I didn't ask anyone to buy with me, just said that I want to accumulate. Yup, still living in denial. Living in lala-land. A very nice place it is too.

Just to satisy Fortunebull lest I get blamed for asking people to buy, "Do not buy SKP Res!"

Amazing isn't it.. Just a few so-called "bad" quarters and suddenly the TP from RHB is 20 sen. For a company that is still generating profits, still generating cash and has a dividend policy in place. Looks like RHB has a very short term view on stocks.

Go on, let it drop below 30 sen, I shall be more than happy to accumulate more. Even at todays price I am still making profits and getting a damn good yield on dividends.

Don't know who said that, but I'm sure whoever it is will not be able to hold on to the money made for very long.. hahaha..

Actually, the fact that it is a listed company means that upon listing, it had 30% bumi equity. Just that it may have dropped below that level now. Based on their announcement, it seems that they require their subsi to have 30% bumi equity directly, which of course they would rather not have.

Well, based on their quarterly and annual reports so far, they are generating more than sufficient cash to pay for the dividends. Their dividends are paid out of free cash flow so it should be sustainable.

Regarding their Kelantan land, I'm assuming this is the plantation they are buying from Sokor Gemilang? Can't remember which is which as they are also buying SPA Hidayah which is involved in logging. Anyway, the plantation land is now facing a hiccup as per their latest Bursa announcement. Something about requiring a 30% bumi equity. Most likely the acquisition will be delayed further or may not go through because of this. Have to continue watching for the news.

Someone should put all the comments here into a nice article on retail investors psychology and how you should always listen to yourself, first and foremost. (of course, assuming you actually did some homework on the company you are investing in and are not one of those who just come in and ask "can buy???" "can sell???" "can top up at this price???" etc..)

Of course, this is still early days, still not clear how the final show will pan out, but it definitely has been an entertaining couple of weeks.

Hi, was hoping someone could help me with some TA on UOA Dev. Based on the 1-year chart, I guess it can be said that it is in a flag pattern now? Although the flag pole doesn't seem very apparent. If so, based on TA, a position should only be taken once it breaks above the upper trend line with rising volume?

Sorry, am totally hopeless at TA. Hope someone can help clarify. Thanks!

Looking to top up some myself. Despite the decent 3rd qtr result, it still seems to be on a downtrend. Waiting for it to stabilise first, although RM2.00 seems to be very attractive.

Summary of facts for those interested or curious:

1) Both Anne Kung and Ngu have fully disposed their warrants.
2) Ngu has sold his shares from 14+% to 7+%. Latest sale was done in the open market on Monday as per yesterdays announcement. All his share sales have been done in the open market.
3) Anne has not sold any shares yet as of today.
4) Q3 report is not out yet.
5) Yesterday, RHB issued a report reducing their TP from RM0.51 to RM0.29.
6) Price has dropped by a significant amount. More so since the RHB report was issued.

Apart from the above, everything else is either speculation or insider news.

Thanks very much for your reply kcchongnz.

I also hold my shares for several years and don't normally trade. True, MBL has a very good track record and we should always look at things in totality. I guess I lost track a bit there. No doubt, they are still doing much better than many other companies in bursa. They also have a good track record in rewarding shareholders, something I tend to put more emphasis on nowadays.

I guess there is insufficient data at the moment to see whether their move upstream will boost their earnings so we'll just have to wait and see. Palm oil is definitely a long term business which I believe, can only get better.

Looks like I have to do more research to understand the differences between MBL and CBIP products. I always thought they make similar machines.

Though you may call it your novice opinion, it does give some.good pointers and throws up different angles that I have not considered or thought in detail. Thanks very much for your sharing. :)

Hi kcchongnz, based on the Q2 results released for MBL today, revenue has dropped by 29.7% compared against Q2 2012 and profit dropped by 64.9%. EPS to date is only 4.11 compared with 10.4 for Q2 2012. Looks like MBL has had 2 pretty bad quarters. Still making a profit and generating cash but registering negative growth. If we annualise the 1H2013 EPS, the amount we get of 8.22 only gives an ROE of less than 10%. Hence, based on the recent results, will you change your view on MBL?

I noticed from their announcement that they are buying a plantation and a logging company. While it is good that they are trying to create recurring income, doesn't it show that they have lost focus on their core competency? Or have they really lost out that badly to CBIP in terms of tenders for their palm oil machinery?

Would greatly appreciate your views on this. Thanking you in advance.

@plutus, yes, it is exactly as you said, "Iskandar hype". At the moment, that is all there is to it. If there is a real estate bubble anywhere in Malaysia now, I think it is in Iskandar. I could be wrong, but I guess we will know in about 10 years time when the tens of thousands of condo units being sold now are looking for buyers at 20-30% the current asking price.

Most of those who are buying to stay are Singaporeans looking to retire here. Yet to be seen how the living environment there is going to be. If the HSR takes off, living in KL and travelling to Singapore will not be much longer than travelling from Iskandar to Singapore. As SJSOON says, the capital will always be the preferred place to be.

WCT WB is issued by WCT, not any issuing house or investment bank.

Stock

If WCT continues to maintain its progress, WB may very well reach RM0.50 or even exceed it. Just have to wait for the confirmation of the exercise price.

Been pretty much patient, got it around RM0.23 before it started shooting up to RM0.34, averaging up along the way. Held on to it when it fell back down to RM0.23. Now waiting for it to hit mid to high 40's for my year end bonus. :)

For me, I'm looking to stay invested for the medium to long term, so I'll probably sell off most of my warrants once I get a comfortable profit and plough back some to convert my remaining warrants. Hopefully before their bonus ex-date to gain some bonus shares and free warrants.

Stock

2012-11-01 10:29 | Report Abuse

Yes, conversion time is a pain, maybe Bursa should find a way to reduce that to make warrants more efficient. I doubt most of the retail holders of WCT-WB will be looking to convert. Most likely they will take profit once it reaches their target. Definitely worth a good punt now, having a discount on a good prospect is always worth it.

Planning to hold some for long term. It definitely has great future potential. Has first mover advantage as well. They will be the one state governments turn to when they want to go green with their landfills. Definitely a growth stock but have to hold long term.

Am I missing something? For someone with deep pockets there is a great chance for arbitrage.

WCT (currently) = RM2.79
WCT-WB (currently) = RM0.275

Need to pay RM2.50 per warrant to convert it, meaning cost of share = RM0.275 = RM2.50 = RM2.775.

A gain of RM0.015 guaranteed.

The warrants are trading at a discount now after being traded at a premium all these while.

They are waiting for regulatory approval for the YTL Power warrants distribution to shareholders. This can be considered as a form of non-cash dividend. If you want to cash it out, you can always sell it on the market.

Their Malaysian power plant is up for renegotiation but it will not make sense for the government in power not to renew it. It costs too much and takes too long to build a new power plant to replace the capacity. Besides that, their YES business seems to be growing steadily. By year end it may reach its critical mass and may start generating profits by next year.

I believe their Singapore and Indonesia sources of revenue are the ones generating the high returns.
