All Steel Companies will report better profit - Koon Yew Yin

Currently China is the 2nd richest nation and very soon China will be the richest nation in the world. China has been using coal to produce steel and it has been the largest steel producer and exporter in the world. China is now taking its social responsibility seriously to improve its air quality and its environment. China has stopped steel export. As a result, steel price has risen about 50% in the last 12 months as shown on the chart below.All the steel companies have reported much better profit in their latest quarter. Since steel price is rising, all the steel companies will continue to report increasing profit in the next few quarters.

A few days ago, Astino reported its EPS jumped from 6.43 sen to 8.46 sen for quarter ending April 2021. As a result, its share price also shot up to close at Rm 1.40 per share.

Based on Astino’s profit growth, all the other steel companies will surely report increased profit for their next quarter ending June 2021.

The table below is a comparison of all the steel stock EPS. Leon Fuat is the best. Even if I assume that Leon Fuat’s EPS for the next 3 quarter is the same as 11.42, its annual EPS will be 4 X 11.42 = 45.68 sen. Last traded price Rm 1.02 divided by 45.68 = 2.2 PE ratio.

Best buying opportunity

Covid 19 pandemic is affecting almost all the listed companies. We also have so much of political uncertainty. Moreover, many investors have lost their employment and money in their businesses. As soon as this hot news was known publicly, many investors rushed to buy Mah Sing shares. As a result, its share price shot up from 72.5 sen to 94.5 sen, an increase of 22 sen or 30.4% limit up. It continues to shoot up higher and higher.

The table below shows that the company has been reporting reduced profit in the last 6 quarters. In fact, it reported loss in the latest quarter.





As a co-founder of Rubberex, I should know the difficulty and time required to construct a new factory to manufacture gloves. With more than 30 years of experience, Rubberex took more than 2 years to complete the construction of the new factory and a few months to test run.

Investors should not buy it because it will take more than 3 years to start producing gloves and another one year to show profit, assuming its profit from the sale of gloves can cover the losses from its property business. Just open your eyes you can see there are so many unsold properties in every town and cities in Malaysia. I will take many more years to resolve the problem.

The above Dayang price chart shows that it has dropped from Rm 2.95 to the lowest of 76 sen and rebounded quite rapidly. Unfortunately, it has been dropping in the last few days which indicates that the trend reversal is not sustainable. If you just based on price chart, it is not safe to buy Dayang at this price level.

Based on fundamentals

Let us examine the basic fundamentals concerning Dayang’s business. Due to the shutdown of all the major cities around the world, air flights, railways and motor vehicles movement are restricted. As a result, the demand for oil will be greatly reduced. Petronas has already announced that the company has shut down a few of its oil rigs which will affect Dayang’s future revenue and profit.

As you know, all the major cities are shutdown, more people are using face masks when they go out and people are practising social distancing seriously. I believe Covid 19 pandemic will be over in a few months. Until all the people are free to move about, the demand for oil will remained bleak.

I have sold all my shares even at a loss. I will only start buying Dayang again when its price chart is showing a definite up trend and the oil price recovers to a more reasonable level so that Petronas will increase its operation
